In the premiere episode of Into the Unknown Mike & John discuss the Sykesville Monster:
The Story:
The Sykesville Monster is a “Hairy Hominid” cryptid encounter in a rural/suburban area of Central Maryland with a flap in 1973, and a significant sighting in 1981.
This is a link where a commonly encountered online image of the Sykesville Monster endorsed by Lon Strickler can be found. It is unclear if this is the same as, or merely similar to, the police artist composite.

A note on “Legend Tripping”: The 1973 sightings occurred on private property, which is visible from public streets. “Into the Unknown” does not endorse trespassing, or intentionally or unintentionally harassing the occupants of the private property. Please be kind and considerate of the people who live in these locations. Lon Strickler’s 1981 sighting occurred in the South Branch Patapsco River just south of town in a common fishing area. It is unknown if this area is public or private property. Please use good judgment and do your own research before visiting this area. It does appear that the Howard County Thru Trail runs close to the sighting location.
In fact, this video visits the 1973 sites for you! He even reads the reports of what happened in the place they events occurred.
