In this episode of Intuitive AF², I sit down with Elicia Santa Maria for a conversation about the many chapters of her life that ultimately brought her deeper into her body, her intuition, and the work she does today.
Elicia shares what it was like growing up as a highly sensitive child with a mother who was Reiki certified, while also being given room to experience both religion and spirituality without feeling like she had to choose one box. We talk about how those early experiences shaped the way she understood energy and intuition, even before she necessarily had words for any of it.
Her path has taken some beautiful turns. From childhood and college, to time spent in Hawaii, to more than a decade working in Special Education, and eventually becoming a Conscious Connected Breathwork facilitator and Aerial Hammock teacher, Elicia’s story is very much one of learning to come home to her own body. Breathwork became part of that journey, helping her better understand her nervous system, her sensitivity, and the connection between embodiment and intuition.
But some of her deepest lessons came through love, caregiving, grief, and loss.
Elicia opens up about meeting her late husband, his colon cancer diagnosis, and the experience of walking beside him as his caregiver. We talk about what that journey taught her, not only about honoring someone after they die, but about honoring the life, love, fear, beauty, grief, and humanity that exist in the journey toward death itself.
And from there, our conversation moves into something we all experience in different ways: the smaller death and rebirth cycles that happen throughout our lives.
Relationships change. Identities fall away. Careers shift. Old versions of us no longer fit. Dreams change shape. Sometimes what feels like an ending is actually creating the space for something new to be born.
This conversation is about learning how to breathe through those thresholds instead of immediately trying to escape them.
