Publisher's Summary:
A business fable for anyone feeling overwhelmed, underpaid, and frustrated in their job....
From the author of The Myth of Multitasking comes Invaluable, a business fable that empowers the frustrated and overworked to understand the value of their time. At the fictitious company GreenGarb, 20-something Jason is discontented with his entry-level position, feeling his skills and knowledge are being underutilized. Mid-level manager Tracy is overwhelmed by her workload and her needy direct reports. And CEO Helen needs them to sort it out productively.
Jason's grandfather, Charlie, plants the seed of a new perspective in Jason mind: Before he can get a raise, he must prove he deserves the raise. He must establish the value of his time, rather than expecting to be paid what he thinks he is worth. Time management consultant Phil helps them determine how they spend their time, and what it costs, with easy-to-follow worksheets that map what their actions and time are worth. Invaluable:
The Myth of Multitasking taught listeners how to take control of their time. Invaluable explains how to increase the value of the time they spend at work.
Members Reviews:
Kind of a tough read but great information
Big fan of Dave Crenshaw, and his other books. this was a little tough based on being written in story form, can be a little hard to follow due to a lot of details that aren't necessarily helpful..... however great information on how to improve job performance, and change your perspective when you may feel stagnant in your current job position.
Dave Crenshaw is an outstanding business coach, and a wealth of knowledge.
Awful Narration
What didnt you like about Kris Koscheskis performance?
the way he performed the women in this book was awful - it was insulting
Must read for anyone that manages other and themselves
The book give you a better understanding on what it means to be invaluable to your employer
This is accomplished through story teller which really make it that much easier to relate to
Great book on refocusing on what matter.
This book shows how basically the 80/20 principle can be implemented to increase your value. some good guidelines and an easy to follow story based lesson.
one life changing book!
What made the experience of listening to Invaluable: The Secret to Becoming Irreplaceable the most enjoyable?
how human and real it is! despite our corp. this and corp. that mentality! which is very very cold! this man cuts through it with a "human touch"
What other book might you compare Invaluable: The Secret to Becoming Irreplaceable to and why?
none that i can come across! the only thing i would recommend is to check out the same author who runs a course online by Dave Crenshaw
Have you listened to any of Kris Koscheskis other performances before? How does this one compare?
i cant say that i have - but he is a soothing human voice as he narrates
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
this would be a brilliant educational movie drama or something in that line which show modern day workers, entrepreneur and everyone in between how markets and things around us are changing so fast but at the same time, the "human element" in all of them remain the same!
Any additional comments?
love the life altering books and stories such as this
