Publisher's Summary:
In today's over-wired world, we are expected to be always on and always connected, but this approach has consequences. Workplace engagement is at an all-time low, and complaints about work-life balance are at an all-time high. In the quest to optimize while restoring balance, more people than ever before are now embracing flow.
When we are in flow, we are in the zone. When we are in flow, we are more creative and more productive. But flow isn't just about unlocking engagement and impact in the workplace. Flow rests on our ability to take care of our bodies, wellness, and work-life balance.
Create More Flow introduces the concept of flow, offers compelling evidence for its impact, and provides actionable strategies to start experiencing more flow more often. This is a must-hear audiobook for anyone who craves more joy in their work and life.

A unique way to think of self improvement
I consider this a self help book for both work life and home life. Most self help books talk about yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and breathing exercises. This book is totally different. The author says that "At its most basic, flow is about creativity and total immersion in life. It is about finding and sustaining the optimal place where we are engaged, moving forward and loving every minute of the process. " Dr. Preston details the five stages associated with experiencing the flow: Prepare (get clear on your outcome); Struggle purposefully (learning, growing, and stretching yourself); Release (step away); Flow (brain feels good with neurochemicals); and Recover (take time to relax and recover). The way Dr. Preston presents the ideas in the book are very timely. She uses alot of computer metaphors which most people can relate to. For example she compares our brain capacity to RAM on a computer. Too much on your mind (in your brain) and your RAM fills up. She also uses the metaphor of a donut. She says the donut hole is your comfort zone. The donut itself is your learning zone. And the outer edge of the donut is your terror zone. Over time and with practice tasks that were initially in your learning zone will become your comfort zone. By living in the learning zone consistently you are growing your donut. It took a couple of chapters for me to warm up to the ideas presented, but once I caught on I found some very good ideas. I recommend the book.
Great read to help create balance
A feeling of overwhelm seems to be the status quo in today's world. I don't know many people who thrive in today's busy, over-stimulated world. Rather than focus on ways to escape this inescapable paradox, Camille Preston instead approaches life as striking a balance between what we need and what we have.
In our constant state of overwhelm, it is increasingly difficult to create a space where we can focus & thrive. This book gives the reader practical and achievable ways to create this space within ourselves, filled with peace and balance. There is no escaping the world around us, and really, that isn't productive. We need ways to make the best of the life we have, and this book is full of tools to teach us just that.
Create More Flow is the optimistic solution needed to address the challenges of the modern work day.
Create More Flow takes a refreshing approach to achieving the contemporary work-life balance that is so overwhelmingly needed.
