In this episode of invASIANtv, we take a look at the leading ladies of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., hacktivist turned superhero Skye/Daisy Johnson/Quake and badass veteran Melinda May, played by Chloe Bennet and Ming-Na Wen respectively. We also discuss fave of the Twitterverse, Randall Park's FBI agent Jimmy Woo, after the epic Wandavision finale. During its seven-year reign on ABC, the show broke barriers with its strong, leading Asian ladies both on-screen, with Chloe and Ming-Na, and behind-the-scenes with show Creator/Executive Producer, Maurissa Tancharoen. Who runs the world? GIRLS!!!!!!

We know this release is at the close of Black History Month, but we wanted to do an episode dedicated to Black Asians we've seen on TV. Turns out while there are Blasian actors out there, there are very few of them playing actual Black AND Asian characters on television. Are we surprised? Of course not. In this episode, we take a huge dump on white supremacy (DUH), discuss who we believe is the first portrayal of a Blasian character on American television, and question why do people dismiss biracial peoples' identity when it is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS? Yes, this is the energy we are bringing to this episode.
On this week's episode we focus on the following actors/characters/shows:
Alisa Gyse Dickens as Kinu Owens on A Different World, Karrueche Tran as Virginia Loc on Claws, and Charles Michael Davis as his fine self.

We need answers.
In this first episode of 2021 for invASIANtv, we talk about the Asians (and one Pacific-Islander) taking up screen time on the still ongoing post-apocalyptic AMC show The Walking Dead. In our lineup, we have Steve Yeun’s portrayal of Glenn Rhee, onscreen hero to Asian dudes across the world, Avi Nash playing zaddy (literally) doctor Siddiq, and finally we discuss hilarious knight of the Kingdom, played by Samoan American Cooper Andrews as JERRY. Are there any Asians still alive in Georgia? Maybe. Listen to this episode to find out!
Catch the new episodes of season 10 of The Walking Dead on Sunday, February 28!
On this week's episode we focus on the following actors/characters:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, FRIENDS!!!
Netflix’s hit holiday rom-com Dash & Lily manages to sprinkle some charming Christmas magic... but was it enough to distract us from Lily’s far-fetched middle school trauma? On this week's episode, we talk about how great it is to see a Japanese-American family celebrating the most wonderful time of the year on TV, the questionable "parenting" of the adults on the show, and our favorite dares that the entire festive series is founded upon.
On this holiday episode we focus on the following actors and characters:

It's strange to believe that Asian Male leads on television were relatively nonexistent up until the 2010s, but lo and behold: it's true! We discuss Indians on TV (an actual Master of None episode description and title), the need for more romantic male leads (because duh), and how martial arts shows should be featuring more Asian actors than white actors (also duh)!
On this week's episode we focus on the following actors/characters/shows:
Aziz Ansari as Dev Shah on Master of None, Daniel Wu as Sunny and Aramis Knight as MK on Into the Badlands, Ryan Potter as Mike Fukunaga on Supah Ninjas, and John Cho as Henry Higgs on Selfie

In this episode, we explore Asians on television who, contrary to the model minority myth, rarely ever did their homework. We look into Brenda Song’s portrayal of everyone’s favorite fictional hotel heiress, London Tipton, in Disney Channel’s Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and Jake Choi’s young baby daddy role as Miggy Park in ABC’s Single Parents. We are here for the range!

We know we have exited October and are officially in November and, therefore, it is no longer Filipino American History Month, but there were a few Filipino Americans on TV we HAD to talk about!
In a bonus episode and part 2 of our Filipinos Playing Filipinos series, we take a look at more serious/dramatic roles played by Filipinos on television. We discuss Filipino parents, the mythical vampire-like Aswang, and how we cannot get enough of Jon Jon Briones's acting.
Also, if you haven't already... FULFILL YOUR CIVIC DUTY AND GO VOTE, Y'ALL!!!

October is Filipino American Heritage Month and for this episode, of course, we wanted to talk about Filipinos playing Filipinos on television.
We talk about Olivia Rodrigo on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Vincent Rodriguez III on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Nico Santos on Superstore, and Manny Jacinto on The Good Place, and all the very cool and familiar Filipino cultural nuances they bring to their shows. There's immigration stories, Filipino Thanksgiving (diniguan??), and whether we will one day see more Filipinas as main characters on the small screen.
