Licensing expert Stephen Key does not believe that purchasing a booth at a trade show is the best option for inventors who are pursuing a licensing agreement for their inventions. It's true that buyers are walking the aisles looking for products they can purchase to put in their stores. That's why everyone is there — to take orders. In his view, walking the show (with a list of potential licensees in hand) to visit and begin forming a relationship is a better strategy than hoping the right companies walk by your booth. Follow up later, after the show. You're there to see the whole industry. If you're in business and you're looking to take orders, that's a different story. But if you just have a prototype... walking the show is a better option in Stephen's opinion. Take your fate into your hands.
