1. I understand why churches would need to avoid political bias but I've noticed that LS doesn't seem to pray or mention world events. Should we not be asking members to pray for the situation in the Ukraine? I don't think we even recognize something as simple as Remembrance Day any more. Is this an oversight or is it intentional?

2. What is the Christian response to the tragedy in Ukraine? I know Jesus loves Putin and that He weeps over the loss of life and suffering. How do we fight against evil and the powers and principalities when they’re embodied in human beings?
3. Referencing episode 235 from today. If temptation isn’t a sin (which I agree with) then can you explain how this truth applies to Matthew 5:28? If you’ve already committed a sin in your heart by temptation how does this work?

2. I often cringe when Christians say .., gods in control , he knows what's happening. Is this faith or fatalism?
3. I have to admit, first of all, that the book of James drives me crazy. I sometimes wonder why it is in the canon other than that he was Jesus’ brother, but I am trying to give it a chance right now. James 1:14 says that everyone is tempted by his own desires, but does that mean that when Jesus was tempted he was tempted by his own desires? In conjunction with this week's sermon (Jan 12), I don’t think so, but I will leave the question for you to answer, while also answering what on earth it is doing in the cannon. Thank you.

1. What are some practical ways I could try to figure out God's purpose for me? Or even what my passions are? I've been a life-long people pleaser and am realizing that I can't think of any passions or dreams of my own because I'm stuffed them away for so long in order to accommodate or care of those around me. I know God has a plan for my life and though I don't minimize the importance and value of taking care of the people in my life, I feel like I'm meant for something else too but have no idea what that would be or even how to start figuring it out.

2. Conversion therapy has now been banned in Canada. What are your thoughts? Is this an infringement of churches rights?



3.When is “unity” not enough? At what point do we break communion with another Christian? I’m wondering because the world is so divided and I don’t want the church to be that way, but how we maintain unity when there are Christian’s who don’t value the image of God in someone else?

1. Can you guys share your thoughts on the whole trucker, freedom convoy thing? I've been hearing details of it being deeply rooted in white nationalist movements. I understand some of the frustration with the pandemic but aren't we just causing further division? A lot of Christians I know support the movement, and I'm struggling with how that makes us more like Jesus.. just a thought!

2.Freedom Convoy 2022.. knowing that many participants and organizers have ties to white nationalism at what point is the support of the freedom convoy forgiving or condoning these ideologies?

3. I was reading on the beliefs of the church and it quotes the apostles creed, and says I believe in the Holy Catholic church. Can you explain that. Thank you for all you do

Q&A: Continuation of last week, Poor Jesus and less than Christians

1. What would your response be to someone whose take on the gospel is this "Ok, so Jesus sacrificed himself to himself to serve as a loophole for rules that he made up, so that people could be saved from a hell that he created?" I've been a believer basically my whole life, but even I struggle with this at times. If God created everything, including the rules surrounding salvation, then he could just change them as needed. I know a lot of it will come down to the idea of free will and wanting people to love and choose him for themselves, but why create "hell" and, in relation to that, if Satan already existed then wouldn't he have been the first to sin? Not Adam and Eve? And if God already had a heaven full of angels that could choose him or not then why bother creating us and the universe at all? And if God is the only one who has always existed, where did angels come from? Did he create them also? Did that happen in a prequel to the creation story?

2. We tend to assume (maybe just I do) that, because Jesus travelled throughout his ministry without a lot of material possessions that he grew up poor too. Is it fair to assume that his family was poor before he began his ministry? If you’re a carpenter at this time, I’d imagine you’re doing alright for yourself. Whether he is or isn’t, does it matter? What does it tell us about what we should live with/without in terms of material possession?


3. I sometimes feel like I'm "less than" as a Christian for my inability to forgive certain past trauma. I lost a parent quite young, the family I should have been supported by basically abandoned me... everyone says if I'm a Christian I'll forgive them.... but what if I can't? How do I do it? I've tried but I just can't let them back in. Have you had to cut ties with someone? Or do you all forgive and forget because it's "the good Christian thing to do"
