1. When we believe that God created everything we also need to believe that He created time. Is there such a thing as different dimensions and real “glitches in the matrix”? I recently read an account of a car full of people who were traveling somewhere. Their radio cut out and they all felt weird. When they looked at the clock they had “lost” an hour of time since the radio stopped. Is it possible their time skipped or is it just an interesting story?

2. Can you comment on the Ravi Zacharias scandal and the issues surrounding broader evangelical culture that create environments for so many sexual scandals we hear of over and over again?

Q&A #185 Certainty about the future and distinguishing between heart, soul and spirit.

1. Last week you talked about looking to different sources of information for certainty, and how we need to make sure we listen to Jesus' teachings on not worrying about tomorrow.

This morning I was reading my newspaper and sorting through the business analysts and their projections for our economy going forward. I have to make serious decisions in the following weeks regarding my business, based on different sources of information, so I can be as certain as possible about what's going to happen in the future. Really nobody knows for sure what's going to happen next week, never mind next year, and many analysts have been proven wrong over the last year. 

I began to wonder, is looking to business and economic analysts similar to looking at horoscopes and mediums since both are trying to predict the future so we can have certainty, just by different means? Is there a different way to run my business that falls in line with Jesus' teachings better? What might this even look like?

2. I am confused by a few words: Soul, Spirit, Heart. Can you please explain what each of these mean and what the correct usage should be, if any.

Q&A #184 Women in Bible times, mediums and horoscopes are discussed in this episode.

1. I have always believed that women in Bible times were nonentities. But that doesn’t seem correct when I consider the role of women throughout the Scriptures. Can I have your thoughts on this please.

2. I keep seeing social media posts from people at our church promoting mediums and/or horoscopes, I have always thought this to be wrong because you are going to someone other than the Holy Spirit for information, reading Leviticus 19:31, 20:6 and 20:27 would support this. But then looking in the chapters around it it talks about not eating pork, and not mixing the fibers of your clothing, two things that are very common amongst Christians. Does this mean we get to pick and choose what we like? Are mediums and horoscopes OK?

Q&A #183 Satan, God's laws, food pantry, God not punishing disobedience, sacrificial animals and more.

1. Thinking of the fallen angel who is Satan. Wondering if that is literal and if he is an actual leader of that world or if it’s a metaphor for the evil realm which yes I think has evil spirits

2. Why did so many of the laws God gave to Moses involve putting people to death for seemingly minor things, then not for others? For example, exodus 21:20 allows masters to beat their servants to death and the only consequence is they have to be "punished" by an unspecified means. And if that slave doesn't die but recovers within a couple days there is no punishment at all. But exodus 21:17 says whoever curses their parents must be put to death. Beating a servant to death seems way worse to me than causing division in a family, but it appears God thinks differently. Laws such as these don't seem to value individual life at all. Does God care less about individual life than I think or am I understanding this wrong?

3. Would it be possible to put a list of foods required to stock the pantry please?? I like to provide things that the pantry is short of which are needed by those accessing this resource. Many thanks.

4. Exodus 24 God asks Moses, and Moses alone to approach him. But 70 leaders of Israel also approached him and they saw God, and God seems to eat a meal with them rather than getting mad at them. why didn't the leaders get punished for seeing God even when they disobeyed him?

5. When Israel was wandering in the desert, they complained about not having meat to eat, only manna. If they didn't have meat, where did they get the animals for the sacrifices, that God had just told them to perform?

6. I’m part of a study group and the question of Romans 13:1 - 5 has come up.  
If Paul the author of this passage is in prison for not obeying the gov’t authority. As well as the many believers over the centuries have been imprisoned and martyred for “disobeying” government authority. (ie. Germans, Dutch, and many others hiding Jews under the Nazi gov’t stating this was against the rules and punishable by death) Is this passage - perhaps - incorrectly translated in our current Bible translations?
Could it be that what Paul was talking about, was God/Jesus Himself being this authority- like Moses taught the Israelites “God is our authority, judge, and King?
And if you still maintain this is referring to civil government, where do we draw the line?

1. Last week you talked about some cultural things in Airdrie the church needs to address. What do you think those things are?
2. On the last podcast Doug and Kyle talked about how we need to source our information and ensure that the information we believe comes from "experts". However history clearly shows that even experts have opposing opinions and it is hard to decipher who is correct. Further, it's clear that throughout history, those who are in power change the "correct" information to suit their needs, needs which are only clear given hindsight. It seems both conspiracy theorists, and "experts" have a history of communicating both truth and lies. How do we navigate this with wisdom?
3. Is Jesus in John 14:6 referencing the gates of the tabernacle, way, truth, life? I've heard this before and I'm wondering if its true. What are the gates of the tabernacle called? Are they way, truth, life? And if so is that why Jesus uses those words here? To make it extremely clear that he is the divine Son of God and the only true way to salvation.
4. Can you expand on what it means to abide in Christ? The dictionary definition says ‘to live in accordance with’ which makes sense but I’ve always though in the church it meant more to rest in Him. I’d love your insights on it. Thanks

4. when Rachel and Leah were fighting over having more children, they gave him their servants as wives. But the servants are not referred to as wives again, why is this?
5. I know we can have differences in opinion but what if one person has an opinion that does not line up with what the bible says. Doesn’t that make that person wrong? How do we navigate this in a relationship?

a. Question from Sunday: When you talk about going your own way, what if your own way is counter cultural to the Christian community?
b. Recently my sister-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Her prognosis is very grime. She has elected to end her life by assisted dying. I am really having a hard time with this and am what the church’s view is on this. She is a non-Christian and not really interested in hearing about salvation.
c. How do I hold in tension the fact that I am a new creation in Christ, but I still sin and struggle and seem to have given ground in my soul to evil spirits?
d. How do you guys teach your kids about forgiveness? Forcing my kids to apologize after hurting each other seems like a lacking way to do teach them about forgiveness.
e. How do you, or do you, remove the immoral or blaspheming people from the congregation so that a little leaven does not leaven the whole lump as the Apostle Paul spoke of in 1 Cor. 5:5 and 1 Tim. 1:20? Where is the line drawn as far as who those people might be, ie: only leaders?; only those who are serving? Etc.

Q&A #178 Love and respect in marriage, women as the "weaker" sex, Satan's offspring and embracing solitude.

1. When I study Ephesians 5:22-33 on marriage, I often feel confused about what these verses are actually trying to communicate in a society that hasn't really taught what it means for a wife to respect her husband. Could you please share practical examples of what that would mean? Also in a society that hasn't demonstrated healthy examples of what love looks like and has filled our heads with Prince Charming ideals. Could you please share what a healthy expectation of a husband loving their wife should actually look like? What does it mean for him to cherish and nourish her and wash her in the Word as Christ does the church?

2. Why does the Bible seemingly state that men and women are created equal, yet men are supposed to treat women differently because they are the weaker sex?

3. In this week's message Pastor Doug quoted Genesis 3:15 where the Lord said He will "put enmity between you (Satan) and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring." It made me wonder, does Satan have actual offspring?

4. How do we embrace the solitude and peace that Jesus asks us to find? Sometimes being alone is the hardest part to finding that peace, how do you release that fear?
