  • S3 Ep3: Irving's King and Pawn Speed Run #10
Irving's King and Pawn Speed Run #10

The 10th in our series dedicated to king and pawn positions.  One position a week taken from Chernev's book Practical Chess Endings (1962).

This is, once again, another problem that builds on IKPSR#3.

85 positions in total - it's going to be a loooooooong series -  ranging from the most basic imaginable of a king each and a single pawn on one side to really rather complex multi-pawn endings.

Irving's King and Pawn Speed Run #9

The ninth in our series dedicated to king and pawn positions.  One position a week taken from Chernev's book Practical Chess Endings (1962).

This is yet another one that builds on IKPSR#3 - I told you that was a key theoretical position - but again with some work to do to get there.

85 positions in total - it's going to be a loooooooong series -  ranging from the most basic imaginable of a king each and a single pawn on one side to really rather complex multi-pawn endings.

    Chernev's Best Shorts #29

Irving's King and Pawn Speed Run #8

The eighth in our series dedicated to king and pawn positions.  One position a week taken from Chernev's book Practical Chess Endings (1962).

This is another one that builds on IKPSR#3, but with a little build up to get there. There's an important little theoretical wrinkle in this one, but more importantly for us, a great visualisation exercise.

85 positions in total - it's going to be a loooooooong series -  ranging from the most basic imaginable of a king each and a single pawn on one side to really rather complex multi-pawn endings.

Irving's King and Pawn Speed Run #7

The seventh in the series dedicated to king and pawn endings.
One position a week taken from Chernev's book Practical Chess Endings (1962).

This is another one that is similar to IKPSR#3, but with a knight's pawn. And being close to the edge of the board makes a difference.

85 positions in total - it's going to be a loooooooong series -  ranging from the most basic imaginable of a king each and a single pawn on one side to really rather complex multi-pawn endings.
