INXS: Access All Areas episodes

November 29, 2020 Epi 30: Thanksgiving INXS in the USA
From 1982-1992, INXS was a much loved and meteoric sensation in the USA with over 7 gold and multi-platinum albums on the Billboard Charts.
With famous gigs like San Bernardino in front of 180,000 people in early 1983 just the beginning, INXS went on to rule the airwaves and hearts of Americans from the West Coast to East. With multiple MTV Award nominations and wins coupled with Grammy recognition, INXS soared the stratosphere stateside like no other born and bred Australian band has ever done!! With musical trends changing and record company support waning, INXS released some of their best material in the 1990s to less commercial success but artistic and critical respect.
So sit back and remember just how significant conquering the Mount Rushmore of Stateside was to the band and appreciate their greatness of our latest episode “INXS in the USA”!

November 22, 2020 Epi 29: Remembering Michael Hutchence
It’s that unfortunate date when each year our thoughts are transformed back in time to that fateful day in 1997.

Michael Hutchence was a driving force behind INXS’s ultimate climb to being the biggest band in the world. So it’s only fitting we commemorate his legacy by inviting our latest Patrons to the third “Calling all Nations” Zoom hookup.

As always, you’ll get the chance to share your favorite songs, albums, concerts plus sharing with the community why this band has impacted your life in such a special way.
Expect the usual array of laughter, fan engagement, storytelling and tears as we keep Michael’s memory alive in the best way possible.
Not a Patron yet? Cmon, join the community as we rightfully pull together to get INXS into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!!! INXS #INXS #MichaelHutchence

November 15, 2020 Epi 28: Garry Gary Beers Deep Dive
The man with the throbbing “bass lines up back”, the king of groove via his Led Zeppelin licks and Motown motifs the man with two first names, we celebrate all this week that is Garry Gary Beers.

From the humble beginnings of the Northern Beaches of Sydney, the oldest member of INXS has been pivotal to the dulcet sounds and beats of INXS tunes over their entire career.

With award-winning side projects and tours with Absent Friends, Garry is still to this day producing vital and listener-friendly music with his new band Ashen Moon.

So buckle in and celebrate the sounds and successes of the “quiet one” of INXS in our Garry Gary Beers deep dive special.

November 01, 2020 Epi 26: KICK 3/3a The Nick Egan Interview
Episode 26 The Nick Egan interview
Nick Egan: A true pioneer and pivotal artisan in the creative musical art scene, Nick’s greatest legacy to INXS outside his groundbreaking cover work for album Kick might be his true friendship with Michael.

Having navigated brilliant creations for artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop, Duran Duran, Oasis, The Sex Pistols, Alanis Morissette, and Bow Wow Wow, Nick Egan has been a major influence on the success of many.
However, it’s his true friendship with Michael Hutchence over an 11 year period that resonates during this two-part deep dive into Nick’s career.

The most giving and honest of interviewees, Nick provides a detailed and often heartfelt account of Michael’s journey to the top and gradual decline in his last few years. But overall Nick’s loyalty for a great mate and respect for a great band shines through.
Enjoy

October 25, 2020 Epi 25: The KICK Album and Tour, review Part 2/3
They say the sequel is never as good as the original. However, we defy this notion with our Part 2 of Album Kick where we delve deep into the critical acclaim, chart positions, sales, and influence on the music industry.
An album that turned 33 years old in the last week, Kick still sounds fresh, crisp, vital, and cutting edge as it did upon release in October 1987.
So sit back, pour a glass of wine or a fresh ale and reminisce just how this Aussie sextet officially conquered Mt Everest to become the biggest band in the world and the center of the musical zeitgeist. #INXS #kickalbum

With over 20,000,000 sales globally Kick cemented INXS stature as the biggest band in the world in 1988. An all Andrew and Michael songwriting affair, INXS took the momentum of Listen like Thieves 2 years earlier and created a musical juggernaut.

With 4 top singles in the USA including their only number 1 Need you Tonight, Kick climbed the charts all around the globe paving the way for a two-year world tour.

Slick, stylish, and supreme, Kick merged the current sounds of the dance floor with INXS’ unique sonic flourishes that were fresh, dynamic, and the epicenter of all that was great.

So buckle in for the first of our 3 part Kick Special and reminisce track by track what made this “the must-have album of the 1980s

October 10, 2020 Epi 23: Fast Cars and Rockstars!
So if you could go back in a time machine “Back to the Future” style to 1979 and see INXS rehearse, perform at your own Xmas party, go on a private jet with the band, witness a film clip getting made, go to an INXS after-party in the Hollywood Hills, meet Robert Plant, go on the KICK tour in the USA and stay at Chris Murphy’s place....... well that’s the life of our latest guest David “Clemo” Clement.
With the famous lyric “you spend the whole day with your axe to the wheel” in Calling all Nations being an ode to Clemo, we are fortunate to vicariously transport you back into a time and place where INXS ruled the musical world.
So buckle up, listen in and drop the jealousy and imagine it is you experiencing all that Clemo has been through!!!

October 03, 2020 Epi 22: The Australian Made
Join us as we celebrate all things Australia particularly the “Australian Made” tour of 1986/87. On the verge of international domination, this concert series took place in 6 cities over 4 weeks with an array of Australia’s best talent supporting INXS in front of sellout crowds in the sweltering heat.
With Mystify played live for the very first time the pre-release of KICK, this concert series gave INXS the impetus and platform to hone their song-craft and prepare for what was to be their most important year so far.
Inspiring many of their Australian peers, Australian Made was a pioneering concert festival experience that would lead to “The Big Day Out” juggernaut and inspire local bands to believe they were just as good as their international contemporaries.
Enjoy.

September 27, 2020 Epi 21: INXS Memories
It’s with complete self-indulgent joy Bee and I make this podcast all about “OURSELVES”. Yikes!!! No, we don’t, but seriously we are passionate and proud to share with the INXS: Access all Areas family our individual Top 5 INXS experiences.
Despite growing up in different hemispheres, the musical excellence of INXS was still able to connect with our respective eyes, ears, and soul. Through destiny on June 6th, 2019 in Sydney at the Michael Hutchence documentary, our paths crossed, and the seeds were sown for this podcast to come alive.
Now we truly get to share the moments, the joy, the heartbreak, and the glee that INXS has brought to our lives. Our lists shall vary but what unites us is the unbridled passion and emotions that this international globe-trotting sextet from Sydney has had on our lives.
So buckle in for what undoubtedly is our most emotionally charged episode where old wounds are juxtaposed with sheer exultation. Peace and Love!!
