No one welcomes suffering. We avoid it, pray against it, and often wonder why God allows it. Yet throughout Scripture, suffering is never presented as the end of the story. In the hands of Jesus, pain is not wasted—it becomes a pathway to hope, perseverance, and a deeper faith.
In this episode of iOVERCOME with Jim and Sherri, we explore why followers of Christ don't have to fear suffering. Jesus never promised a life without trials, but He did promise His presence in the middle of them. The cross itself reminds us that God can take the darkest moment in history and turn it into the greatest victory the world has ever known. If He can do that with the cross, He can bring purpose and hope out of our struggles as well.
Join Jim and Sherri as they unpack what the Bible teaches about suffering through passages like Romans 5, James 1, and 1 Peter. Discover how God uses hardship to strengthen our character, deepen our dependence on Him, refine our faith, and prepare us for what lies ahead. When we trust Christ in the midst of suffering, our pain doesn't define us—our hope in Him does.
Whatever trial you're facing today, remember this: suffering is never the final chapter for those who belong to Jesus. In Christ, pain can become perseverance, perseverance can shape character, and character can lead to a hope that will never disappoint.
Because with Jesus, suffering is never meaningless—it is often the beginning of something beautiful.
