We are unstable people living in an unstable world and, if we're honest, we're not sure about many things. After last week's passage that included a hard admonition and a serious warning we look today to an immensely encouraging passage as we finish Hebrews 6. Today, we will hear the good news that God is trustworthy so we should hold fast to Jesus, our sure and steady anchor who alone can take us into God's presence.

  • We Must Grow Up-Hebrews 5:11-6:12 (audio)
Sometimes we all need to be told to grow up. It doesn't feel good in the moment but we need it because the consequences of not growing up are grave. While today's passage ends with an encouraging note, the bulk of it is a reprimand and a serious warning. May God give us all ears to hear, minds to understand, and hearts and will ready to be transformed for our good, the good of others, and His glory.

  • Holding on or Hardening?-Hebrews 3 (audio)
We continue our series in Hebrews where we'll hear another declaration of how Jesus is better. We'll also hear another warning. A hardened, unbelieving heart develops easily. We need each other if we are going to guard against this and choose instead to hold on to our hope in Jesus until the end. We must help one another hold on to our confidence in Jesus so that we are not hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

  • Such a Great Salvation-Hebrews 2 (audio)
Last week we started a sermon series in Hebrews. The book is aimed at highlighting the greatness of Jesus and convincing us to stick with Him because Jesus is better than anything. In chapter 1 we were flooded with reasons to be in awe of the position and power of Jesus. Chapter 2 begins with a warning not to neglect such a great salvation and then we will see the superiority of Jesus in a much different way: Not in His exalted position and power but in His humiliation, suffering, and death. Why is this such good news for us?

God uses the preaching of His word (sermons) to change us. Today we start a new sermon series in the unique New Testament book of Hebrews. Hebrews is essentially a sermon aimed at convincing a certain people of something. Throughout this series, we'll be aiming to do what the author was aiming to do with the original audience: To highlight the greatness of Jesus and convince us that He's better than anything so that we stick with Him.

  • With Us to the End-2 Timothy 4:9-21 (audio)
Today we wrap up our series in this short but rich letter of 2 Timothy. This last section, focused on presence, is both personal and practical. After encouraging Timothy to come be with him soon and then naming those who have stuck with him and those who have not, Paul expresses confidence in the Lord whose rescuing presence has been and will be constant. Though we want some people to be with us to the end, we know for sure that the Lord will.

  • Bible-Molded Lives-2 Timothy 3:10-17 (audio)
A dark forecast was laid out for us in the opening verses of 2 Timothy 3. Difficult times are coming, filled with difficult people and disqualified leaders. Sin, evil, and deception are on the increase. So what was Timothy supposed to do? What are we supposed to do? How does God plan to counter the sin, evil, and deception that are getting worse? Today, we look at what God breathed out through Paul to Timothy and we will once again see just how relevant this is for us. Timothy in his day and us in our day must live godly lives in Christ Jesus and continue to believe the Bible, using it to teach, transform, and train.
