If you are looking for a good contact manager and scheduler, check out VIPOrbit. With this program, you can set up contacts or import them from your networks. Put them into orbits – same thing as groups. You can even import your calendars into VIPOrbit to keep track of your meetings. When you schedule new meetings, use the program to attach contacts.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12

First, we take a look at the latest edition of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12. If you have played golf games on the iPad before, this one is not much different. Choose your club, slide back then forward for your swing. Get it to the cup in the shortest amount of shots.

Create a character. Every hole you play, you could win cash points you can use to increase power, accuracy, putting and more. When you are ready, then you can play against some of the tour professionals. Even Tiger Woods himself.

Many championship courses in this game. St. Andrews, Hazeltine, Greenbrier and more.

If you are in a place where you cannot watch the tournament of the week or want a companion to your golf viewing, PGA Tour HD is a great iPad app to have. The app gives you information about the golfers, each hole on the course and the leaderboard. You can watch video, figure out tee times and even look at future events.

This app is free and available for iOS 4.0 devices.

Malibu Golf Club

I learned a little bit about this great golf course. They just changed the name from Malibu Country Club because everyone thought it was a closed course. Fact is, it’s open to the public.

An 18-hole championship course, this 6,614 yard challenge (from the blue tees) gives you a great view of the California hills.

If you are a fan of the swipe game, Ninja Factor HD might be one to try out. Just like the popular fruit game, this one deals with numbers. When you start you are given a number to watch for. Swipe all the numbers for combos and more points. Don’t let the special number go off screen or else you lose a mark. Lose 3 marks and the game is over.

There are many different Easter eggs in the game. Swipe the timepiece and have the game slow down for more combo moves. Watch out for the bombs or your game will be over.

You can also play multi-player and there is a “crazy sevens” game to add to the excitement. Ninja Factor HD is brought to you by ChipotleLabs and is .99 cents. it works across iOS devices.

I applauded Twitter when they got an iPad app. It took forever, but Google+ finally got an iPad app (over an iPhone app on the iPad). Now Pinterest has finally jumped on the bandwagon and given us an app we can use on the iPad!

Pinterest is a social network that lets you “pin” pictures to your boards. Those pictures can point to websites, videos, or other content. The new iPad app works similar to the website – you can add pins, follow people and more.

The app is free and available on all iOS devices.

Padintosh Case

A cool case came out at Think Geek – The Padintosh Case is an iPad case that turns the back of your iPad into an old-school Macintosh. Complete with a paint program saying, “hello”. You might think you’re back in 1985 on that monochrome display, mouse and keyboard.

It brings back memories. We got a Macintosh lab in high school. I helped put the network together, which was an interesting project.

So I used to use Tweetdeck on my iPhone and iPad, but Twitter bought it, and for some reason messed it up. It made an opportunity for other Twitter clients to come in. Now twitter is back with their own client, but is it the best option?

That is why on this episode of iPad365, I am going to take a look at Twitter’s iPad app, as well as HootSuite, Tweetbot and Twitterrific.

Twitter for iPad

Their newest version of Twitter is pretty impressive. It allows you to add multiple accounts if you have multiple businesses to monitor.

This is a straight up twitter client. There are no frills to it. You can choose which shortning link and which image storage you use. Other than that, it’s just Twitter.

The app is free and available for all iOS devices.

Twitterrific

Twitterrific came out in 2010 and was a MacWorld gem. The app has two versions – Free and upgrade ($4.99 in-app). The pro version allows you to connect multiple twitter accounts, connect with Instapaper and ReadItLater. There is even a tweet translation and a trend area so you can see what is being tweeted by the masses.

Tweetbot

I had Tweetbot on my iPhone. Unfortunately, the iPad version is a separate app. So I had to shell out another $2.99 for this client. It allows you to set up mutiple timelines, create smart gestures and connect with services like Instapaper, CloudApp, Pocket and more. You can manage lists and save pictures through your cloud devices.

HootSuite

This app is probably the most versatile of the group, but you are gonna have to pay for the functionality. While you can connect multiple accounts, if you go over 5, you will have to get the pro version. The best part – you can connect not only Twitter accounts, but also LinkedIn, Foursquare, Facebook and more.

HootSuite also lets you set up scheduled tweets. You can then send a message to multiple networks at a specific time. A great tool for the tweeter.

However…

This comes at a price. The free model lets you connect 5 profiles. If you want to do an unlimited profile, it will cost you $9.99 a month. You will also get Google Analytics integrated, unlimited RSS feeds and Enhanced analytic reports. Therefore, if you are making money on your Twitter profiles, this might be the best option.

Which Twitter Client is for you?

Each one brings something to the table. The free Twitter app, or the monthly Hootsuite with analytics – There is no clear winner. The best thing to do is look at the apps and make the decision of what features you need.

I grew up with the gaming consoles. Atari, Activision and Coleco. When I found out that Pitfall was updated for the iPad, I just had to have it.

The new version of Pitfall has a bit more resolution from the 8-bit game of 1982. The game is like Temple Run – Except there are more camera angles to it. Instead of watching 3rd person from behind, there are scenes where you are seeing Pitfall Harry from the side, and various side views.

The controls are: swipe up to jump, down to slide, left and right to turn, and tap to crack the whip. If you tilt the iPad, you can collect coins as you go. The best part about this game, though, is the play is in landscape mode (as opposed to Temple Run’s Portrait). With my iPad in the ZAGGFolio, I can set it on my lap, then tilt using my legs. That makes a big difference in gameplay.

As you progress, you pass checkmarks. If you crash, you can use tokens to restart at checkpoints. You can earn tokens, or purchase them through in-app.

A great new version of the classic game. It is available for all iOS devices and is only .99 cents.

It’s that time. Time to get ready for school once again. You have a few weeks, so why not plan out your purchase attack?

Check out iPlanShopping. This app does just that – let’s you figure out a plan for your shopping need. You can set up stores, items needed and figure a budget. When you enter items into the planner, you can set a date as to when they are needed. That way, you can plan your trips.

iPlanShopping gives you a nice report on what you have bought and what you still need.

The app is free, and is part of iHomeEducator – who also have apps like iPlanLessons and iPlanHomework. The app also works on iPhone.

I also talk about how Apple has surpassed HP to become the top PC seller. With 19.4% market share, Q2 showed that Apple took over the #1 spot. They can attribute that to the tablet market. Will Apple keep that top spot? With the Nexus 7 getting decent reviews and Windows Slate coming, it will definitely have stiff competition.

Today’s app is Clash of Clans – a land game app that sets you in a midevil time. Your job is to build your clan, and fight the goblins to get more gold, elixer and gems. As you build your land, make sure you have enough troops, defense and cannons so when you get attacked, you don’t lose the game.

One issue I had with Clash of Clans – If you use a troop to attack a village, you lose the troop when done. So if you deplete all your forces on winning some gold and elixer, your troops don’t go home.

Otherwise, this is a run of the mill land building game. No big surprises. If you get off track, there is a guide there to help.

The app is by SuperCell and is free. There are in-app purchases of gems starting at $4.99

Lately, we have passwords for everything. I continue to get emails stating they had to reset my password because of a breech. So keeping track of passwords can get tough.

Using a program like mSecure can help. It holds important password information, email settings, combination lock numbers, credit cards and more. Using 256 bit Blowfish encryption, people cannot get into your data. You can sync with a Dropbox so your information is not just on one device.

mSecure has a passlock option to the program. That way you don’t need to lock your iPad, but your data is safe. You can choose to self-destruct data after a number of attempts.

I want a more powerful iPad. Not an iPad Mini

The rumor on the street is an iPad mini will be released. This is a 7″ iPad to compete with Kindle Fire, Barnes and Noble Nook and others. While I don’t mind Apple making a mini version, I am really hoping they will compete with the current Microsoft announcement, and make a more powerful iPad – Possibly with an Intel i5 processor inside.

The biggest selling point of the Microsoft Surface tablet will be the unified code. What you write for the desktop, will easily move to your tablet. With iPad, you have to write a separate program if you want it on the Mac.

with an i5 processor, 64-128 GB of storage and 2GB internal RAM, I could easily turn my tablet into a desktop, and run more complex programs. I also wouldn’t have to carry a big laptop or even a Macbook Air with me. Just 1-2 iPads.

The iPad Mini will suffice for the people who just email or surf the web.

Today, Jeff Bezos stated in the front page of Amazon:

Today, we’re excited to announce that Prime Instant Video is available on iPad—just install the Amazon Instant Video app. Amazon Prime members can now get unlimited streaming of thousands of instant videos on iPad, Kindle Fire, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Roku, and hundreds more TVs and Blu-ray players.

What is great about this, as a Prime member, I can now get a host of movies and TV shows right from my iPad for free. It also will begin to compete with Netflix streaming, as you can now get Amazon on most Over the Top Television (OTT) devices.

There is not much to the app, you can view the movies on the list, browse through your purchased movies and set movies to save for later. It is a great companion to a Roku, where you could easily find the movies and TV shows you want to watch, then call them up on your TV.

I tried to use Airplay on my iPad to send the video to Apple TV. All I got was a blank screen. It is possible you cannot play Amazon Instant Video on an external monitor (U-Verse is another movie app that blocks external monitors).
