In March of 2020, the coronavirus shut America down. By the end of May it was apparent we were not getting rid of COVID-19 anytime soon. During that time I interviewed five different healthcare professionals and educators about how things had changed during those first three months of the pandemic. 

This is not a typical IPE 10x10 episode. 

Dr. April D. Newton joins Dave to discuss the future of interprofessional collaboration. Subjects range from the expansion of Project ECHO to how we teach students the difference between interprofessional practice and simply standing in a room together.

Back in 2019, a unique event took place. Aspects of theater, traditional panel discussions, and audience Q&A were combined to present a nursing grand rounds session. Brandon George, of the Indiana Addiction Issues Coalition, joins Dr. Kim Hodges and Pam MacLaughlin, both of IU Health, to speak with Dave about how this event came to be and what made it so unique.

This episode features a returning Dr. Deanna Willis. Dr. Willis is the director of IU's Family Medicine Clinic and works with the Comprehensive Pain Assessment Clinic. Both of these institutions have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Today we're going to find out how the clinics have adapted to the changing medical landscape of 2020 and ask why she chooses to work with interdisciplinary teams.

Ron Contreras and Sean Sreniawski are physician assistants. Their role in the medical field is relatively new and if you think you know what they do, it's likely you're wrong. In this episode, we dive into the many hats worn by physician assistants and how they fit in interprofessional teams.

Indianapolis, Indiana is home to the Comprehensive Pain Assessment Clinic, CoPAC for short. CoPAC is a place where patients who have dealt with chronic pain can be referred to receive recommendations about to best deal with their issues. What makes CoPAC unique is that the patients are seen by more than one specialist at a time.  Their teams consist of practitioners from nursing, medical, social work, physical therapy, and more. 

In this episode, Kelsey Binion, Dr. April D. Newton, and Dr. Deanna Willis will take us through creating this clinic and how it benefits patients,  practitioners, and students.

Dr. Zach Weber is the director of IPE at Purdue University College of Pharmacy. He is also the assistant dean of education at the Indiana University Interprofessional Practice and Education Center. Working as a part of these rival institutions has given Zach a unique perspective on what interprofessional collaboration means.
