Director of Elections Glaspole Brown says the Seiveright Gardens division in St. Andrew will not be part of today's Nomination Day activities.

Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Leader and Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says it is his intention that public sector workers are guaranteed a wage increase without compromising the economy.

His comment follows recent wage talks between the Jamaica Teacher's Association (JTA) and the Finance Ministry, which ended without a resolution.

Speaking at a JLP meeting in St. Thomas last night, Dr. Holness said he was approached by a teacher who asked that a better wage offer be made to teachers. Among other things he explained that over the years, wage freezes have been implemented for public sector workers, mainly after wage increases were granted.

Police say a man was fatally stabbed at a political meeting in Sedburgh Manchester, last evening.

Dead is 53 year old farmer, Andrew Hendricks of Lower Christiana in the parish.

Reports are that at about 8:50pm, Hendricks and another man were at a meeting at the Jamaica Laour Party, JLP North East Manchester Constituency office when they had a dispute, allegedly over food.
