Hello, this is Irregulatory. We're Stano and Yana, two chemical regulation specialists from Prague, and this is where we talk compliance, slightly off-script. Outside of the show, we work at REGARTIS. After the PPWR detour, we're back to the original promise: REACH basics.
This time, we talk registrations under REACH. Who has to register (and what non-EU suppliers can do instead), why your registration needs to be active before you cross one tonne, which exemptions to check first, and how a joint submission actually works: finding the lead registrant (yes, Google again), the letter of access, the inquiry dossier, and the four tonnage bands. What comes first? How much will it cost? It depends.
We recorded this one outdoors, so leaves, birds, a bit of wind, a few ambulances (not for anyone who forgot to register) and at least one helicopter join the conversation.

Hello, this is Irregulatory. We're Stano and Yana, two chemical regulation specialists from Prague, and this is where we talk compliance, slightly off-script. Outside of the show, we work at REGARTIS. We said we'd stick to REACH basics at the beginning. And we really wanted to, but PPWR couldn't wait. The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation applies as of 12 August 2026, and the delegated acts that should tell companies how to comply are still missing. Yana just came back from a roundtable at the Czech Parliament. It's not just businesses that are confused.
We cover what PPWR actually means, why the shift from directive to regulation matters, and how it works in practice: declaration of conformity, EPR obligations in every member state, and why small businesses are getting hit the hardest. Featuring: compliance beer.

First things first: Hello, this is Irregulatory. We're Stano and Yana, two chemical regulation specialists from Prague, and this is where we talk compliance, slightly off-script. Outside of the show, we work at REGARTIS. In this episode, we lay the groundwork. We start with REACH, the regulation behind how chemicals get to the EU market. We cover the basics: one-tonne-per-year threshold, how registration works (and why everyone just googles the lead registrant instead of following the guidance), and the big three you need to know: restriction, authorisation, and the candidate list. We try to explain the difference between the first two. It depends.
