Blood flow restriction training has been shown to be a safe and effective technique that has been performed for years. The American Physical Therapy Association considers BFR to be within the scope of practice of physical therapists, but the state of New York has recently stated that it is not. In this episode, we talk about this disappointing news and why not only should BFR be within our scope of practice, but why it's imperative that we can be allowed to perform this to maximize the safety and efficacy.
