Paul Bloom argues against empathy and in favor of compassion, as compassion involves connecting with someone and then helping lift them out of where they are. Matt, Mike, and Rob debate the merits of compassion vs. empathy.  Will we agree with Paul Bloom? Will we give you the justification you need to tell your wife it's not efficient to 'just listen?' Probably not. But you should listen with bated breath.
