On January 13 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi suggested an enactment of the Fixed Term Parliament Act to prevent mid-term changes of the government. Later, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Cabinet had yet to convene any discussion on this. We speak to Tharma Pillai about why the call for this legislation was made.
