When someone is upset with us, or treats us in a way we wish they wouldn't...it's hard not to take it personally.

However, if we can learn to step back and realize that other peoples actions towards us actually have nothing to do with us, we find our lives become more peaceful and satisfying. Which in turn, inspires others to live the same.

You see, we are all in control of our own emotions and how we act. In fact, that's the only thing we have control over!

Which means we cannot control how any other person acts, and we also need not take responsibilty for how they are acting.

If someone is "lashing out" at us, we are wise to know that they must simply have a whole mess of "stuff" going on with them....we are just the unfortunate recepient in the moment. It has nothing to do with us directly.

When we can see it this way, and resist taking the situation personally, we can now offer compassion to them about where they are, and even offer understanding in their emotion...but we do not have to share or take on those feelings or become negative with them.

We can choose to stay positive regardless of how they are acting. Because again, we only have control over how we feel and how we act.
