Australia is experiencing a severe and late-peaking flu season, with cases nearly 20% higher than last year. As of July 2025, there have been 174,492 national flu cases, with the highest weekly total recorded just last week (2800 cases).
Phil speaks with Kristian Ray, Pharmacist & Health Services Manager at Pharmacy 777 Group, who urges Australians to get their flu shot now.
He emphasises that it's not too late, and vaccination provides protection from July to October, while still subsidized and free by the government. Getting vaccinated remains the most effective protection, reducing severity, protecting vulnerable individuals, and preventing hospitalizations.
