Another tragic school shooting took place, this time in a Kentucky high school. The alleged shooter killed two students and injured seventeen others. This marks the second school shooting in as many days, and yet there has been very little coverage of either incident. Meanwhile, a civil rights group in Boston is concerned that Boston School Police are overusing the word “gang” in their incident reports, which they claim is helping ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) identify students who are here illegally. Do you think police officers working in schools should be worried about using the wrong terminology in their incident reports? Does the word “gang” mean something different for high school students than for ICE?
