Is the Cart before the Horse: Failure to Launch and Substance Use Disorders
Show Guest: Gary Hees
Society as a whole, and in many cases people within the industry, believed that there was no such thing as
the, "disease" of addiction. They felt that drug addiction and alcoholism were symptoms of moral failing or
lack of self-control. Thanks to extensive research and a significant effort to educate the general public,
the notion of the addiction as a, "disease" has been widely accepted. The reality is that while a lot of
people do in fact suffer from the disease of addiction, many people struggling with substances do not. In
this not-to-be-missed interview, Gary and his expert staff at Decision Point Center describe how they
assessment the conditions, and provide treatment and a community environment to help individuals move forward
with purpose and meaning regardless of their history of substance misuse, abuse, and other co-occurring
disorders.
