Cue Brian's surprise when, in 2021, he sees similar phenomenons occurring in developed countries across the globe. Brian explains to Alex that even if an opinion is "bad," or incorrect, it still needs to be dragged out into the public square and addressed. Truth can stand on its own, and truth can always override lies and control.

One trick that authoritarians like to employ when attempting to control a populace involves dehumanizing a demographic that they deem undesirable. Today we think that this is a problem that is relegated to the history books or only seen in Third World countries, however in 2021 we can see clues and indices that employing dehumanizing turns-of-phrase and talking points can make it easier to marginalize people with whom authority disagrees and remove them from basic functions of society. Even though situations seem heavy, Brian and Alex remain optimistic that people will not consent to such manipulation.
