Jonathan Archer, along with his wife Michelle and three children, is a missionary in Kara, Togo, a small country in west Africa. Togo is the twelfth poorest country in the world, and the city of Kara has a population of 90,000 people. Behind Christianity and local folk religions, Islam is the largest religion in the country. Before coming to Togo, Jonathan and his family spent time as a missionaries in France, reaching out to the one of the largest Muslim populations in Europe. Through reading the Quran with a Muslim friend in France, Jonathan developed a relationship and had opportunities to evangelize. “At the base, it comes down to Jesus. That was the question that would always come up,” Jonathan said. “When I would talk with these guys I would love them. I would spend time with them.”In Togo, Jonathan is focusing on planting churches and discipling men to lead them. “What we’re praying for is that God will direct us to an individual in the church that desires to be a lead pastor and a church planter that we can work alongside as a team,” Jonathan explained. You can learn more about Jonathan Archer and his ministry in France by listening to this episode of the Is There a Cause Podcast and visiting the Archers’ missionary profile here.
