Today’s reading takes us into Isaiah 9, where deep darkness is interrupted by a glorious promise: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” In a time of national rebellion, corrupt kings, looming judgment, and Assyrian terror, God gives His people more than political hope—He gives them a prophecy of the coming King.

This chapter reminds us that Jesus is not just a Christmas verse; He is the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. He is the light that shines in Galilee, the ruler whose government has no end, and the Redeemer whose coming reaches all the way into the story of Ruth and Boaz. As we read Isaiah 9, we are invited to slow down, see the darkness honestly, and live like Jesus is everything the Word says He is.
