  • Ep 85: Who does golf exclude and why?

History was made at The Australian Open at The Lakes when the inaugural All Abilities Championship was decided this past week. The tournament saw 12 golfers with disability from around the world tackle the course in tournament conditions, off the tournament tees, and in front of tournament crowds. The dozen golfers acquitted themselves remarkably well with some outstanding golf played over the three days. But golfers with disability are only one small part of the inclusion equation and on episode 85 we're joined by Christian Hamilton, Senior Manager - Inclusion at One Golf, to talk about perhaps one of the most important issues facing the game. It's a fascinating discussion which, as the game so often does, reflects broader themes applicable in life as well as golf.

    Special Guest: Christian Hamilton.

It finally happened! The inaugural ISG Pod golf and live recording day was a small affair but a big success with nine loyal listeners turning out to sample the ongoing works at the Bonnie Doon Golf Club in Sydney. There were plenty of laughs and lots of fun on the course and the recording session with Mike Clayton afterwards was equally entertaining and informative. Among the topics covered: how members cope with an eight year renovation project; how modern equipment has changed thinking about course design; why dogs should be allowed on golf courses and why architecture is important. All that and plenty more to chew on in Episode 84.
