  • Ep 55: Harvey Penick's Little Red Book

With students including Tom Kite, Ben Crenshaw and Mickey Wright, Harvey Penick clearly knew a little something about golf and how to teach it. The Texan legend's Little Red Book sits comfortably alongside Hogan's iconic Five Fundamentals as the best known and most respected instruction books in the game and in this episode of the #ISGPod Book Club hosts Rod Morri and Adrian Logue are joined by New Zealand based Australian PGA Professional John Parry Evans to uncover just why the book is so revered. Parry Evans himself proved to be an entertaining and knowledgeable guest and while things got off track a few times the result is a highly entertaining discussion.

    Special Guest: John Parry Evans.

  • Ep 54: Peter Kessler

He was the first and best known voice at Golf Channel when it launched in 1995 and he continues to be one of the game's great story tellers and analysts. Peter Kessler has interviewed almost every important golf figure of the last century, either on his Golf Talk Live show on Golf Channel or his equally compelling long running radio show on the Sirius XM network. While not heard as often now as he once was, Kessler remains one of American golf's favourite stars and as you'll hear when he sits down with Rod Morri and Mike Clayton, he's as thoughtful and entertaining about the game in 2018 as he always has been.

    Special Guest: Peter Kessler.

  • Ep 53: Masters Wrap (and not a word about Tiger!)

A Masters wrap with virtually no mention of Tiger Woods (well one, but it's just a mention). We touch on: The reaction to Alan Shipnuck's story about Patrick Reed's estranged family, the magic that is Jordan Spieth at Augusta (including his fascinating pre-shot conversation with Michael Greller at the 13th Sunday) and the excellent finishes of Australians Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith. We also get into a bit of salty debate about Augusta National's newly announced amateur women's tournament that will clash with the LPGA's first major of 2019, the ANA Inspiration.

  • Ep 52: Masters preview - three great finishes with Gil Capps

1975, 1987 and 2011...just three of the 50 Masters final round broadcasts available on the Masters YouTube channel but the three we're focussing on for this special preview edition of the year's first major. Gil Capps, author of The Magnificent Masters, delves into the telecast, course and result from one of the tournaments great finishes in 1975 while Adrian Logue selects 1987 and Rod Morri opts for one of the under recognised finishes in history - 2011. It's a different lookout a fascinating one which explores some of the reasons why the Masters is the tournament it is and some of the ways things have gone wrong.

  • Ep 51: ISG Book Club - The Eternal Summer (Pt2)

Welcome to Part Two of the ISG Book Club - The Eternal Summer. So good is Curt Sampson's 1992 book about the 1960 golf season that hosts Rod Morri, Adrian Logue and Mike Clayton couldn't fit a breakdown of it into one episode so here we are with part two. When we finished part one the book was about to delve into what many consider to be the greatest US Open in history followed by an extraordinary Open Championship at St Andrews and the season ending PGA at Firestone. But the book, and this conversation, are about far more than simply those events. Find out why some Australian pros called Kel Nagle 'The Undertaker' and how the course at Firestone Country Club came to be the poster child for an era of design now frowned upon. We hope you enjoy part two of The Eternal Summer.

    Special Guest: Mike Clayton.

  • Ep 50: ISG Book Club - The Eternal Summer (Pt1)

It was one of the game's greatest and most compelling tournament seasons and came at a time when the world around golf was rapidly changing. Curt Sampson's The Eternal Summer breaks down the 1960 season of professional golf with a focus on three of the game's most intriguing characters: The ageing Ben Hogan, the charismatic Arnold Palmer and the emerging star, then amateur Jack Nicklaus. Hosts Adrian Logue and Rod Morri are joined by touring professional turned course architect and commentator Mike Clayton for a deep dive not only into the book, but some of the changes in the game that took place at the time and endure to this day. We cover everything from the disappearance of the caddie at golf clubs worldwide to the heartbreaking history of Ken Venturi at The Masters but there was so much to take from this book that the recording went a little longer than expected so the episode has been broken into two parts. We hope you enjoy Part One and Part Two will be released Friday.

    Special Guest: Mike Clayton.

  • Ep 49: Australia's least known golf star Brendan Jones

In an almost 20 year career playing the Japan Tour Brendan Jones has amassed 14 victories and a wealth of experience. Also, don't forget the third instalment of the ISG Book Club is next week when we'll deep dive into Curt Sampson's The Eternal Summer with Mike Clayton and Adrian Logue.

  • Ep 48: The other side of the ball debate

The debate about distance rages on with most already taking their stance on one side or other of the issue. Our #ISGPod hosts are in favour of rolling back the ball but that's not true of everyone in the game. On Episode 48 we try to find some common ground when Rod Morri and Adrian Logue are joined by Canadian golf writer Rick Young, who doesn't favour a rollback, to discuss the issue from both sides. Its a civil conversation that, while unlikely to sway either side, allows different views to be put and considered in what is an important issue for the game. Also, don't forget the third instalment of the iSeekGolf Podcast Book Club coming up on March 27 when we'll be joined by Mike Clayton to break down Curt Sampson's The Eternal Summer about the fascinating year in golf that was 1960. You can buy the book here or just tune in on March 27.

    Special Guest: Rick Young.

  • Ep 47: Does The Ball Go Too Far?

In Episode 47 we touch on the simmering debate about distance, find out from Bruce Young what the novices at the NZ Open learned at caddie school with Steve Williams and dissect what the victories of Phil Mickelson and Michelle Wie might mean in golf's bigger picture. Also, don't forget to grab a copy of Curt Sampson's The Eternal Summer in readiness for the next episode of the ISG Book Club going out March 27.

  • Ep 46: ISG Pod Book Club - A course Called Ireland

The notion of walking the entire coastline of a nation for the purpose of playing all of it's seaside golf courses is just crazy enough to be the basis of a book. Tom Coyne's A Course Called Ireland is that book. On Episode Two of the ISG Pod Book Club we welcome special guest Derek Duncan of the Feed The Ball podcast to help break down Coyne's book, a combined travel, golf and self discovery story worth taking the time to read. Episode Three of the Book Club next month will feature Curt Sampson's Eternal Summer, the story of the extraordinary 1960 season which featured Palmer, Hogan and a young Jack Nicklaus.

    Special Guest: Derek Duncan.
