Every framework humans use to answer this — pleasure, success, legacy, love — eventually runs out. Pleasure ends. Success fades. Legacy is forgotten. The Quran gives a different answer in chapter 51, verse 56: "I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." If God is good, all-powerful, and all-knowing — why is there suffering? This is the most common objection to belief in God. The Quran doesn't avoid it. Chapter 2, verse 155 states directly: "We will surely test you." Not maybe. Not if things go wrong. Certainly. Your immune system recognises millions of threats it has never encountered before. The Quran uses the same word — ayat — for its verses and for the phenomena of the natural world. Both are signs. In chapter 41, verse 53, Allah promises: "We will show them Our signs in the horizons." This episode examines the fine-tuning of the physical universe: Earth's precise distance from the Sun, the exact oxygen concentration in our atmosphere, and water's unusual behavior when it freezes. Each condition is so precisely set that a small change in either direction makes life impossible. Precision like this raises a question.

Not only did the universe begin — it is still expanding, at an accelerating rate. Confirmed by scientists in the late 20th century using telescopes and red-shift measurements. Yet the Quran, in chapter 51, verse 47, uses the Arabic word Musi'oon — meaning "We are its Expander" — in a form indicating present, ongoing, continuous action. Not past tense. Not future. Now. This episode examines the linguistic precision of a claim made 1,400 years before any instrument could measure cosmic expansion.

In 1929, Edwin Hubble discovered the universe is expanding — which means, traced backwards, it had a definite beginning. This shook the scientific establishment, which had assumed the universe was eternal. But 1,400 years earlier, the Quran stated in chapter 21, verse 30 that the heavens and earth were "joined together" before being "split apart." This episode examines what modern cosmology and the Quran agree on — and asks the question science cannot answer: what caused the beginning?

Something cannot come from nothing. You cannot create yourself. These aren't religious claims — they're logical axioms that have held throughout all of human experience.
