Recently, I was approached for advice by a young Muslim man who suffers from being sexually attracted to men. Some time back, this had even led him to rejecting Islam due to the conflict between his feelings and his beliefs. The day of Ashura, observed on the 10th of Muharram in the Islamic calendar, encapsulates two historical events with lessons for today.

It marked the day Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) saved Prophet Musa (alayhi salaam) and the Children of Israel from Pharaoh's oppression, demonstrating the ultimate triumph of faith over tyranny.
