Daniel has been reading the book of Jeremiah and probably the book of Isaiah. He sees that the length of the Babylonian captivity is going to be only seventy years, and is due to expire. Part of Daniel's prayer shows he knows that Israel has to confess her national sins before the Messiah is going to come to set up His kingdom. Following the prayer, the angel Gabriel comes to make a correction to Daniel's assumption about when the kingdom would begin. Gabriel tells Daniel that the kingdom is going to be set up after this concept he introduces called, "the Seventy-Sevens". Daniel thought waiting for seventy years to finish would be the time span, and Gabriel says, "No, no… it's seventy-sevens of years."

The Witness of Our Wisdom Deuteronomy 4:5–8 This message explores how the wisdom God gives His people is intended not merely to increase their knowledge but to transform their conduct into a living witness of His goodness, grace, and glory. Through Moses' final instructions to Israel in Deuteronomy, we are reminded of the importance of remembering God's faithfulness, trusting His promises, obeying His Word, and encouraging one another in the good fight of faith. Moses recounts Israel's wilderness journey, emphasizing how unbelief turned an eleven-day journey to Kadesh Barnea into decades of wandering. Although the people failed to trust God, He remained faithful, providing manna, preserving their clothing, and sustaining them through the wilderness. These provisions taught them that life is not sustained by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Their greatest need was not simply God's provision but a faithful dependence upon His instructions. The message also examines Moses' failure to honor God when he struck the rock rather than speaking to it. Though his disobedience prevented him from entering the promised land, God still instructed him to encourage and strengthen Joshua. This reveals that past failures and present limitations do not eliminate our responsibility or opportunities to help others fulfill God's purposes. Likewise, the tribes who had already received their inheritance were commanded to stand with their brethren until everyone had taken possession of what God had promised, illustrating the importance of unity, encouragement, and shared responsibility among believers. The Path to the Path — Seeking, Surrendering, Submitting, and Serving the Lord Primary Scriptures: Zephaniah 3:1–7; Proverbs 16:3; Proverbs 3:5–6; Matthew 6:33; John 15:1–8 This message emphasizes the necessity of living every day in complete dependence upon Jesus rather than relying on our own understanding, abilities, or desires. Drawing from Zephaniah 3, it reveals how God's people rose early and corrupted their deeds because they neglected His presence, rejected His correction, and pursued their own ways. The central truth is that there is a path to the path—before we can faithfully walk in God's assignments, we must first come through the Lord Himself. We cannot do the King's work independently of the King. The message identifies four essential characteristics of a revived and fruitful life: seeking, surrendering, submitting, and serving. We seek the Lord because we treasure His presence and don't want to miss His instruction. We surrender because we trust His wisdom above our understanding. We submit because we recognize His authority and welcome His correction. And we serve because genuine faith produces obedience. These four principles stand in direct contrast to the pride and independence that corrupted the lives of God's people in Zephaniah's day. Using the illustrations of Isaac uncovering Abraham's wells, Israel's unbelief at Kadesh-barnea, and the prodigal son's return to his father, the message demonstrates how spiritual fruitfulness comes through humility, repentance, and continued fellowship with God. In this chapter, I want to look at the first aspect of God‟s judgment – God‟s justice in putting things right. Scripture certainly makes it clear that God is the God of justice, the one who is just, the one who puts things right. Moreover, God plainly set out what this means when he starkly contrasted his justice to the injustice displayed by Israel, his old-covenant people. As Moses declared: I will proclaim the name of the LORD; ascribe greatness to our God! The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he. [In contrast,] they [God‟s old-covenant people] have dealt corruptly with him; they are no longer his children because they are blemished; they are a crooked and twisted generation. Do you thus repay the LORD, you foolish and senseless people? (Deut. 32:3-6).

Paul uses the example of Israel to teach about temptation and how to avoid it. The promise is clear. God is faithful and will always give you a way to escape temptation. Israel yielded to the temptation to worship idols and to the lust of the flesh. However, temptation is not the problem. Yielding is the problem. Indeed, it only took days to get Israel out of Egypt and we are still trying to get Egypt out of Israel.
