Given the longstanding discrimination against non-white non-European Jews, Palestinians and Druze are now just third class citizens. Prime Minister Netanyahu described the newly enacted law as “a defining moment in the annals of Zionism and the history of the State of Israel.” American defenders of Israel, like J Street, hope it is not a defining moment and are worried that the new law may erode Israel’s longstanding unquestioned support in the US.
