I understood being blessed and I've now learned what doing blessed is. And I must say, I would rather be "doing blessed. Add a little proactive activism to doing blessed and we just may have yet another solution to tackling the magnitude of issues facing Black people.

From mass incarceration, lack of jobs, the failed war on drugs policy and police brutality, Black people have and still are facing them all and a few more, yet, there is a renewed determination in Black people to no longer allows these issues to remain just something we talk about.

Sex! A word that conjures up some diverse and divisive topics; which is exactly what happened during our "Sex in the Black Community" podcast.

Is it the diverse and divisive topics that make for very uneasy conversations? If so, we as a community better let go of our uneasiness when it comes to talking about sex. Why? Becasue it's getting hot, risky and wild out there in this world. Listen in as myself, Erique and Sun-Ray El begin to discuss the reasons why we must talk about sex in the Black community.

Some protested, wore red, marched, took a day off work and others did nothing including not acknowledging the day as important. No matter how one chose to observe 'International Women's Day" I do believe a little respect should have been in order. After all, many complaints have been registered across the years of how many women do not feel equal, respected, protected, honored or appreciated other than on Mother's Day". And not all women are mother's. So, should women relinquish their needs and desires to one day? Should women wait for others to validate their importance at work, home, or within society? I Think not. However, remember every woman can celebrate "International Women's Day" each day of the year beginning with a celebration of self. What better way to celebrate self than to choose to become better.

Could it be possible Ben Carson did not actually express original words in his address to the Deapartment of Housing and Urban Development when refering to slaves as immigrants? Perhaps Ben Carson was woefully used to further promote the whitewashing of Black History in America. Nevertheless, his original words or those of a speech writer does not really matter; what does matter is the words came out of the mouth of a Black man.

American public school systems are in a crisis. No one can deny that. Depending upon the zip code, the level of crisis may be different. Nevertheless, any crisis is just that; a crisis. So what's a parant and community to do? There's not a "one size fits all" to the aforementioned question, however, what is clear we must start analyzing and implementing practical actions that can be taken.

One of the first questions asked of me after announcing my podcast was: Why?  What better time to answer this question and a few more than my very first show...?
