Our Anxious Thoughts Expose What We Believe
(And what we believe Leads us down one of two roads)
Road 1- A Life of Being Anxious
- I believe there are things I have to have (good things have become ultimate things
- I believe God cannot be trusted, and He is not loving.
- I believe that my opinion of how this should b going is the non-negotiable answer.
- I believe I was in control until______.
Road 2- The Peace of God - I believe that God and my relationship with Him is THE ultimate thing that can be counted on.
- I believe that God is trustworthy and loving.
- I believe that God knows what's best and I am NOT the center of the universe.
- I believe that God is in control.
Traveling Down the Road of Peace 1. Identify and name your anxious thoughts so you can take them captive. (2 Cor 10:5) 2. Think. a. Look at/Behold/Consider His Providence and His Love. (Matt 6:25-34; Rom 8:32 b. Think about what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise. (Phil 4:8) c. Set your minds on things that are above (Col 3:2) 3. Talk to your heart instead of let tin your heart talk to you. (Ps 42:5) 4. Be in His presence. a. Trust Him in prayer. (Phil 4:7) b. Dwell with the Lord and gaze upon His beauty. (Ps 27-4) 5. Be Thankful. (Phil 4:7) a. Be specific about what you are thankful for. b. Thank God as you pray. 6. Submit your will to his. (1 Pet 5:6-7) 7. Be fully present in the present time. (Matt 6:34)
