NEW - Crossroads of Invasion

World War 1, the Revolutionary Wars, World War 2. The flat-lands of northern France and Belgium have been caught up in many of the major events of modern European history.

So, me and two of my best friends have set off to Lille to find out more, and what makes it part of the 'Crossroads of Invasion'. We are not going alone, we'll have help of experts from the likes of UCL and Oxford.

This episode will be packed of fun, facts and things you may not have thought would come up, like pigeons. Enjoy!

We’re three best friends, we’ve just left college, and we are going on an adventure. No backpacking, hostels or 10 hour flights for us. We’re going on a trip to the past, and to the north of France.

There’ll be revolutions, croissants, and occasional arguments.All to find out how, why and ultimately if a decent chunk of modern European history revolved around this flat corner of Europe. Some call it the crossroads of invasion.

But, we’re not going alone, helping us are experts from the likesof UCL and Oxford.

The only issue is, I haven’t told the other two that’s our tripto Lille is more than just a holiday. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

A deep dive into source skills this week, looking at two sources from 2020's paper all about why Mussolini fell from grace in 1943. Why don't you get up the sources and then you can follow along. A look this week at all the different factors that contributed to the collapse of the Wiemar government, all through the prism of an essay question, with some top tips from Anita! It does take quite some time to get to that though, because the fact of the week about Concorde somehow devolves into a chat about the old words of English. It makes me wamblecropt just thinking about it.
