IT in the D

It's auto show season here in Detroit, and so episode 178 dove in a little bit.  From a media preview event the night before our show to what's on the floor that might catch people's eyes and the latest in connected and autonomous cars, our guests from Mobile Comply and M2Techcast had plenty of information for us...

Well, our first show of the year didn't go quite as planned, but it's still the best show we've done so far this year.  We lost a guest due to unavoidable circumstances, but still had a great time sitting down with Jimmy McKnight talking about the numerous podcasts he's a part of, comic cons here and around the country, and more...

All in all, not a bad way to kick off the year.

Things may not have gone quite according to plan for episode 176 of the IT in the D podcast from our Podcast Detroit studios, but that doesn't mean that we didn't have a blast like always.  Unfortunately, we lost SPLT, but we were joined by Charlie from Moka Boka, a very cool personalized book for your kids that's delivered every month with a new story each time, as well as Calvin from Seven Two Tours and Leading Questions as we talked Rogue One and wrapped up our year with spoilers galore...

Again: spoilers.  Don't say we didn't warn you if you listen to the third segment and haven't seen Rogue One yet...

Fun episode as we were joined by Ahead and Daily Detroit for episode 175 of the IT in the D podcast from our Podcast Detroit studios.  We talked cloud, properties of the cloud, strategies for the cloud...you know, "demented and sad, but social"...and then we dove in with Jer and Sven to talk about what's going on in the city including this new Detroit city ID card that's in the works, Noel Night, and more...

Last night was certainly an interesting one.  Episode 174 of the IT in the D podcast from our Podcast Detroit studios featured Falling Down Beer Company talking about their impending expansion in Oxford, Operation Kid Equip discussing not just their charity that we're working with at Thursday night's event but also some incredibly woefully undertold stories of need right here in the area that definitely need to be heard, and then we wrapped up the night with Daily Detroit talking the evolution of media and some of those same stories paralleled throughout the area.  Quick reminder, you can donate in advance at http://ubmwarren.org/peacehouse...

We don't often break out our episodes into individual segments...in fact, we haven't done that in almost two years now.  However, the stories and messages that came through during our conversation with Michael last night about the charity that we're working with for Thursday night's events are extremely powerful, woefully undiscussed, and need to be brought to light.  Please donate in advance at http://ubmwarren.org/peacehouse

The really big push for the charity this year is running a house that provides a temporary home for women and children in dire situations - victims of domestic abuse that are kicked out of their homes, or escape from the situation, and need someplace to go. Cash donations are going to be especially appreciated and put to good use by the group, though of course they're still doing the toy drive as well - they're just looking to do more for those in need, and we definitely want to support them. If you want to make a cash donation in advance, you can do so at http://ubmwarren.org/peacehouse

Here's the kicker to make it more "real" for you - their average operational budget is $33 per day. You can sponsor a day at this home for people in dire situations...for $33. You can even pick a date, and do it in memory of someone, or for a particular reason, and have that noted as well. $33, folks. That's all it takes to keep people off the streets for one night. Do it.
