For six months now I have put my podcasts out there. It has been a meaningful journey for me and I do hope my meanderings have inspired others. Inspired others to think outside of the box.

Today I will finish the quick review of this series and then end with some closing thoughts. I will summarize what I find the bottom line to be.

There are many reasons why “Top 10” lists are popular. These reasons include: 1) They are quick and easy to read at a quick glance. 2) Someone else has done the work. 3) It can be fun to compare lists. 4) 10 is a nice round number. 5) They tell a lot about human nature. Including our own. And on it goes.

For the fun of it, I went to Amazon and searched for books about “boundaries.” There were 75 pages where each page displayed 16 books. That adds up to 1200 books on boundaries alone. For “depression” there were only 50 pages. For “love” there were also 75 pages. But I would argue that many of the books about love also talk about boundaries. “Mindfulness” – 50. And so on…

So, are we obsessed with boundaries? I am going with, “Yes.” Often we think of boundaries that relate to the interactions between us and other people. But there are also boundaries in other areas of our lives. I find these to be just as important. Because these boundaries can also rob you of peace and tranquility if you let them.

During this podcast we will explore: 1) Burdensome Boundaries; 2) Busting Boundaries; and 3) Boundless Boundaries.

How do we determine what information, what concepts are right for us? How do we know for certain that we have made a good decision, evaluated correctly? I find this be be rather complex. But, I am going to take a high level stab at it: Using that 1 to 5 scale. You know, the one venders often use when they ask for feedback.

The thing about movies is that they often focus on one aspect of life and help you visualize what that one aspect is really all about. Movies have a way of pulling you in and making you “feel” what those people on the screen feel. You can relate.

So I find that you can get so much more out of a movie if you circle back and connect some of those dots for yourself. What is a lullaby? Webster: “A song that is sung to bring sleep to children.” I like that. Sometimes your inner child needs a lullaby. Sometimes your soul needs a lullaby. Some time ago I wrote this poem “Hush My Soul” which is published in my Meditations book. Think of this as a lullaby for your soul.

Often during this series I have used the word “perspective.” Perhaps I am especially focused on this because we just had a sudden death in our family. Because, even the smallest things need to be put into perspective or we can get stuck on them like bath water swirling down the drain.

So how do we rise above it all? Sometimes we feel guilty if we don’t focus on something that has happened. We fear that it sends the message that we don’t care.

Sometimes we are afraid to face those skeletons in the closet. We sense that will create confusion that will only make things worse.

Different circumstances call for different strategies. Let’s explore some of those strategies.
