Relief could be in sight for millions of parents and children who suffer from peanut allergies. The experimental patch is called Viaskin and it’s being tested on toddlers between the ages of 1 to 3 who cannot tolerate even a small fraction of a peanut. Thus far the results have been promising, as the patch slowly trains the kids to tolerate an accidental bite of something containing nuts by introducing a small amount of peanut protein into their system. There is no cure to nut allergies, and while most youngsters outgrow the severe medical episodes associated with the allergy, they largely must still avoid eating nuts for life.
