Turn it Up! Marriage Tips and Tools

It Takes More than Knowledge

Listen Later

It takes more than knowledge to strengthen your marriage, it takes action.
Could it be that the missing piece in your marriage is not more knowledge but more action? Are you ready to move from being a hearer of marriage advice to a doer of that advice and see real change in your relationship? Well, welcome to the Turn It Up Marriage Tips and Tools Show where I provide faith-based tips and tools from God's Word that will strengthen your marriage and make it better.
Hi, I'm Coach Kelly DuPée, Pastor Police Chaplain, Christian Marriage Coach, and author of the book, *Turn It Up: How To Have The Lifelong Marriage That You Really Want.*
In today's episode, we dive into the importance of putting into practice the marriage tips you are learning from me, and maybe other sources. James 1:22-24 reminds us to be doers of the word, not just hearers. Similarly, in your marriage, it’s not enough to simply listen to advice and gain knowledge. We must actively apply these tips and principles.
Reflecting on our own actions, just like looking in a mirror to make necessary adjustments, is crucial. Practical application can revolutionize areas like communication, anger management, conflict resolution, and expressing love and appreciation. Here are some practical steps to get started:
1. **Set Specific, Actionable Goals:** For instance, if the tip is about improving communication, commit to having a daily check-in with your spouse.
2. **Keep a Marriage Journal:** Track your progress and reflect on areas for improvement.
3. **Get Help from a Coach:** A coach like myself can help you apply what you're learning and support you with accountability.
Remember, consistent effort and reliance on God's strength are key. Pray together, ask God for wisdom, patience, and love, and apply what you’re learning. Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
In summary, knowledge without application is like a seed that never gets planted. Turn up the volume on your commitment to applying God's word to your life and learn the marriage tools from the Bible. Start using them to nurture a stronger, healthier, and more fulfilling marriage.
