It is “normal” for people to believe what they WANT to believe, but it is “spiritual” for us to listen to God with open hearts and minds. Many people missed the birth of the Messiah because they didn’t pay attention to the prophecies of scripture, but instead awaited their own desires. The Roman Empire dominated their country and they were looking for a military champion and king to set them free from Rome, rather than a spiritual Messiah to set them free from their sin.

How many times do we miss a revelation or blessing from God because we are expecting something else that sounds better to us? So what are we “expecting” from this Christmas? Family time? Certainly. Gifts? For sure! Great food? Absolutely. Spiritual growth like never before? You will probably get what you are expecting and not get what you aren’t expecting. What if we asked God what He’d like us to experience this Christmas?
