Just a few minutes from downtown or the college campuses, the Lincoln Street Diner got its start 60 years ago as Mae’s Little Kitchen. The 26th annual Downtown Ithaca Chili Cook-Off is just a couple weekends away, and competitor registration is open for just a few more days. Farm vendors, beverage producers, non-profits who’d like to table, and creative chili chefs can register until 5pm on February 16th.

Many restaurants, gas stations, and all sorts of retail stores have tried a variety of ways to cover the business expense of accepting credit cards, including offering cash discounts or imposing credit card surcharges. This month the rules in New York State change, so the higher price must be displayed. The changes go into effect on February 11th.
