  • Managing Difficult Emotions With Your Kids

    Send Sherry a Text Message

As a solo momma, you know what it's like to create a new normal while grieving the loss of the old at the same time, especially post COVID-19.

We were stretched to the limit like Elasta Girl from The Incredibles. We had no support of a second parent and had to find our "bounce-back" as we were forced out of the workplace due to lack of childcare - finding ourselves in a financial pinch, working from home, and now with school in our home.

Nevertheless, we somehow made it work, but how is it working for your kiddos?

We may have been able to establish some kind of new normal out of what certainly was not normal, but our kids will NEVER know the normal we once had.

Our kids are dealing with difficult stuff and can easily stuff their emotions if they aren't taught some stuff.

So how can we help our kiddos process difficult emotions during these unprecedented and unpredictable times

  • Defining Beauty and Not How The World Defines You

    Send Sherry a Text Message

When you look in the mirror WHAT do you see?

Do you take the time to take in all the traits that make up you or do you quickly cover yourself with make-up to conceal yourself from yourself and everyone else?

When you look in the mirror WHO do you see? What is it that you reflect on when you take in your reflection? Do you see every curve, line, texture, and tone as an imperfection or the perfecting pattern of a person called YOU?

As solo mommas and women, it is important to know our worth and value. If you don't define beauty, the world will define it for you.

    Highlighted Bible Verses:
    1 Peter 3:4
    Psalm 139:13-14
    Proverbs 31:30

Share Your Thoughts: Email: [email protected]

    • Tell me about someone you see as beautiful and why?
    • How do you combat society's view of beauty when you are tempted to feel despair over your imperfections?
    • What are some practical things you could do to shift your perspective or view of beauty to align with what God would judge as true beauty?

  • Unmet Expectations: When Our Reality Doesn't Match Our Dreams

    Send Sherry a Text Message

What disappoints us the most in life is the picture in our heads of how life is supposed to be.

    Now picture that, momma!

Do you feel that way when you look at your wedding picture or even a current picture of your family and notice someone is missing in that picture?

Do you find, like I do, that your "I do" you said as you stood at the altar would be forever?

It's not quite how you pictured it, is it?

Today we are going to do a cannonball into that pool of thoughts - when our reality doesn't match our dreams - forming, WHAT, an unmet expectation.

  • Can I Interest You In Some Unwanted Advice

    Send Sherry a Text Message

Does unwelcomed advice from family remind you of why you might want to "unwelcome" some peeps from holiday parties or events? Doesn't it just seem that everyone has an opinion on your career, parenting, dating, and lifestyle choices?

    Blah. Blah. Blah.

As I like to say, "It's all relative when it comes to your relatives."

So with Easter right around the corner, girrrrl, how are you going to handle ALL THAT?

Especially as a solo momma, relatives may feel "extra inclined" to offer even more advice because they see you are doing parenting and life alone.

Learn, 4 Thoughts on Healthy Boundaries and reasons why people may want to solicit some unsolicited advice.

    1. Don't Take It Personally.
    2. Think Tall Not Small.
    3. Seek and Praise ( this is not a hymn)
    4. The Slippery Slope of Apathetic Agreement.

So can I interest you in some unwanted advice? If not, I am going to give it to you anyways.

Most likely, your children don't feel the same way you do when they see their father as he is their hero. Just like you are to them.

  • No is Yes to Next Opportunities

    Send Sherry a Text Message

Today, we are going to have some fun practicing speaking our mind and speaking a word that often comes to mind, but for some crazy reason, we do mind saying it out loud.

It's funny how strange how just two letters that sit next to each other in the alphabet can really sit heavy on our hearts if we fail to express it.

So why is saying NO, so hard, and why do we see it as a bad thing as opposed to maybe a YES to a Next Opportunity.  Learn more as we boil saying "no" to four next opportunities!

    4 Next Opportunities:

    1.  Saying No On Your Own Terms
    2.  Maybe Next Time
    3.  Saying a No That Buys You Time
    4.  Full On Stop. NO!

Show Highlight: Learning to say "no" opens new doors to say "yes" to better things and next opportunities!

Do you feel like your life is out of control or, on the contrary, you are controlling everything so you don't lose control?

As solo mommas, we are used to controlling everyone and everything as we are doing the job of two. But, did you know that the very same control is also controlling you?

It sure is and if left unchecked, it not only checks you out from being a present parent, it also takes your breath away and the power that comes in the present moment.

So together we are going to do something different and learn how to lose some control!!!

    Episode Thought Provoking Questions:

    • How is control controlling you?
    • Are you in control of your life or is God?
    • So how does the "perception" of being in control really change a situation or does it only end up changing you?
    • How many times a week do you have to be in control or whom are you controlling?

  • Would You Date You

    Send Sherry a Text Message

Kind of a strange question to ask, but give it some thought?

    Seriously.

Would you date you, if you controlled every outcome, every conversation, and every expectation?

As solo mommas, well, we are kind of used to controlling everything and everyone because we are doing the job that was meant for two.

In this episode, we will discover how "all that" affects both you and the "potential guy" that you look to date.

Listen, mommas, in this season you have to consider if you are really ready to date, OR are there some things that need to change before you try to change someone else?

It's time to look at you and ask yourself,  would you date you?
