My guest today on ScaleUp Radio is such an unassuming young man, you can't fail to warm to him when you listen to him and certainly, I did very much. 

He was awarded the startup entrepreneur of the year for Scotland and Northern Ireland at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards so he knows what he's doing and his is a young business set up in 2020 in the field of health and safety initially 

Today I talked with Ian Macphail, who runs the IDM Group.  It started as IDM safety and now has a couple of other divisions to the group.  Iain is the MD and chief visionary and we have a really lovely conversation about all sorts of aspects. It's really clear that he is very passionate about his business, and is really authentic about how he wants to deal with people. He understands the privilege and the responsibility that he has as being the owner of the business and the responsibility he has for his staff. 

And this translates right through to the way the treat their clients. 

So a lot of excellent advice here from somebody that's not been in business that long, but has already built up a successful business and you'll hear that his family have got a long tradition in Scotland and in the highlands, of running businesses and  Iain has picked up a lot from his father and his grandfather in particular.
