“The great affair, we always find, is to get money.”

We’ve explored this concept before in our readings, but it bears a point of return from time to time. There is the self-interested part of our lives that is focused on what we can get for ourselves and our families. To some extent, of course, it’s required. We have to earn our way, and to some extent this self-interested participation in the open market is good for the collective whole. At least in theory.
