The Alley Pond Park Adventure Course is a challenging obstacle course that promotes team-building and problem--solving skills for groups or individuals as they surmount physically and intellectually demanding situations. Admission is free and the course is fully accessible; there are activities for all ages and all physical abilities.

At the carousel in Willowbrook Park, kids of all ages can climb aboard their favorite hand-carved wooden animal figure and enjoy one of yesteryear's most popular pastimes in one of the Greenbelt's loveliest settings. From May through October the Greenbelt Conservancy is pleased to offer families this enjoyable and affordable experience. The Carousel is open on major holidays through October. Carousel rides are just $1.50 per person.

The Richard Rodgers Amphitheater reopens in Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem.

The MillionTrees Training Program is a collaborative initiative between the City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation and The New York Restoration Project. The program helps work towards a more environmentally sustainable healthy living for the future through a 7-month green-collar job course of training that is specifically designed to teach, educate and motivate young adults to become more aware and proactive in the wellness of the environment while jointly gaining employment and life skills.

At The Randall's Island Sports Foundation Summer Camp approximately 350 children a day are given the opportunity to escape city life and enjoy some time on Randall's Island. With the help and supervision of RISF camp counselors and staff, children partake in activities including tennis at the new world class Sportime tennis center, golf at a first class driving range, running on the track at Icahn Stadium and learning about nature at Randall's Islands wetlands.

The newly restored Poe Cottage and the newly constructed Poe Park Visitors Center are highlights of this neighborhood park on the Grand Concourse.

The Claudio Reyna Foundation partners with NYC Parks to offer an afterschool program at Recreation Centers across the City supported by the exhibition game now known as "The Showdown in Chinatown." Kids learn to play soccer and other life skills.

The exhibition "Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads" by Ai Weiwei was on view from May to July of 2011 at 59th Street and 5th Avenue. The artist was to have attend the opening, but was detained in China on April 3rd. The installation, his first public artwork, depicts the signs of the zodiac in bronze casts positioned in the the historic Pulitzer Fountain at Grand Army Plaza in Manhattan.
