May 31, 2023: On the cusp of the deadline to withdraw from the NBA draft and maintain your eligibility, MSU guards Jaden Akins and AJ Hoggard both announced they will return for the 2023-24 MSU Spartans season. Their return brings a lot of experience, talent, production, and potential upside assuming Akins plays the entire year without injury. Coupling their return with Hall and Walker taking their COVID years and a top 6 recruiting class, and Michigan State is set for very successful year.

The biggest questions with the return of the two players is how are the minutes going to get delegated? We are unlikely to see 35+ minutes from any of the starters as we did last year. Also, it seems to go without mention that it should look like a more typical MSU team with a faster pace and a reemphasis towards running and rebounding. At this way too early to know time of the preseason it is reasonable to think just about anything is on the table for expectations with this team.
