Sharmaine Brown, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Educator, Speaker and a gun-violence prevention advocate. On July 11, 2015, her son Jared was killed after being stuck by a stray bullet and died instantly. After, the untimely death of her son and much prayer she decided to move forward with the vision God had given her and she started Jared’s Heart of Success, Inc a foundation in her son’s honor to educate, empower, encourage and engage youth and young adult.

Sharmaine is the program director and oversees programming for Jared’s Heart of Success, Inc an award winning 501 (c) (3) non-profit youth organization which provides mentoring and leadership development, health and wellness, financial literacy and prevention awareness program. She also is a national adviser for the Sandy Hook and SAVE Promise Club Committee and has partnered with local schools in the Atlanta area.

Sharmaine also shares her personal story nationally with others through the Everytown Survivor Network inviting them to join the movement to ending gun violence, she has been featured in VOGUE, Voyage ATL and seen on several news outlet speaking on gun violence prevention and have spoken to legislators on Capitol Hill.

Sharmaine’s grief work consists of supporting individuals as they are transitioning throughout the grief world, by educating and empowering them along their journeys through her Grief Coaching and her Consulting Business- Cultivating Change Health Solutions, LLC. She has dedicated her life to serving and helping others.

Takisha Jacobs mother of five, certified Echocardiogram Tech and Medical Assistant, became an Angel Mom after tragedy struck her family on July 4, 2017 in Indianapolis, IN when her youngest son Abdul “Banngo” Cross, age 15 was shot simply from being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He fought for his life for 9 days after senselessly being shot multiple times.

Her feelings of pain, hurt, helplessness, anger, frustration, depression, that felt like TORTURE,

a feeling that no mother SHOULD EVER have to endure. Losing someone so young, so dear to her heart wasn’t easy to bounce back from, instead of harboring unconstructive emotions, she decided to turn her pain into purpose. She has become passionate about putting an end to senseless gun violence, by helping others to heal their emotions in a positive way. Takisha is now the Vice President of Jumping 4 Jesus, (JUMP) & an Ambassador for the Bullets for Life the Indiana chapter and she plans to continue her positive reinforcement to those who suffer or just need a shoulder to cry on, and most of all creating awareness to end city gun violence.

Ashley K. Pittman is a newly published author of “I Can Breathe Again”. She is a wife and mother but starting a family was challenging for her. Ashley lost twin babies at seven months of pregnancy. She is a victor over infant loss, depression, and grief. Her mission is to encourage other mothers and families that healing is possible after a loss of a child. Ashley has appeared on Indianapolis FOX 59, WRTV 6, WTHR 13 News stations, radio station 106.7 and Glambitious podcast. She has also been published with SHEEN and MizCEO magazine, Atlanta News Journal, Formidable Women’s magazine and Chicago Now. Ashley has used these platforms, as well as speaking opportunities to share her story and mission to make a difference in the lives of others. Loria Perez is a community gun violence prevention advocate. This mother of 4 boys have been spreading love and bringing awareness to senselessness of city gun-violence. After having 2 sons being affected on April 30, 2017; one losing his life to gun violence and the other being the surviving witnessing of his brother assignation. She has token this mission beyond personal. Loria supports her community by reaching the youth and families left to grief their losses.

Sending the clear message that: “We don’t retaliate....We reconcile” She’s the CEO/Founder of galvanizing movement called J.U.M.P (Jesus use me please). As Loria continue to motivate spreading love to streets of South Bend, Indiana she partnered with several organizations taking a stance fighting against Gun-Violence. Her partnerships include Moms Demand Action and Bullets 4 Life.

Loria profound work consists of, partnering with community leaders, public school systems, and community service centers. She has bridge the gap with local law enforcement coining the name Mama Loria.

Her message reaches far beyond her local community its reaching our nation in hopes to end gun violence.

Loria’s mission is first reaching the youth in the inner city. By giving the essential needs such as love, respect, understanding, and intervention resources.

We no longer can just say put the guns down. We must dig up the source by the root which has been the mentality of needing a firearm and using one to cause harm. Lori states “until we demonstrate respecting life how do we expect them too.” It starts with loving and standing up for our children.

Being a survivor keeps growing, she refuses to allow her grief to get the best of her… Loria’s mission continues with the heartfelt message: A Mother’s Love Never Dies.

She started in 2011 to provide luxury service to working women, new moms, and women who couldn't get to the nail salon due to schedule issues, etc. but, still wanted their nails done. In 2011 She was hired to work on set of a XXL Magazine to do nails for R&B Star & Love & Hip Hop NY Star Olivia and Love & Hip Hop NY Star, Model Tahiry Jose. Which led to her participation on the glam squad staff for the Love and Hip Hop NY Reunion Show bringing spice to the casts’ nails. She was also a featured on Bossip.com as a part of the glam squad for a makeover contest. Since then,she decided to take the steps to grow her business full time. She's had the pleasure of rockin out nails for a LHHATL Star/R&B Star K. Michelle, the Women of Essence Magazine. Love and Hip Hop Atlanta Star Mimi Faust, R&B Diva Star/ Soul Artist Monifah, 106 & Park Hostess Marie Free Wright. She has also worked on the glam squad as Manicurist for Hard Candy Cosmetics . Along with that her work has been featured in ad campaigns in several publications and on NY Time Square billboards. D. Malone has also had her work featured on Ebony.com Nail Files in July and Aug 2013. In addition D’s On the Spot Nails Owner was featured in Popular Clothing Line ServedFresh™ Me Campaign.

In 2014, Ms. Malone became a certified Nail Instructor and taught at Gloria Francis Beauty in Hicksville,NY. Then in 2015, she had the great experience of teaching at Long Island Nail and Skin Care Institute in Levittown, NY. Also, a few years prior to kick off her teaching experience, D. became an educator for INM Nails . Working with INM and the amazing team has been and continues to be a wonderful part of her growth.

She was also hired as manicurist for the Hit TV Show "The Black List" for half of the taping of Season 3 Then, in 2016 she took her talents to Charlotte NC where she continued her Mobile Nail services until she ventured into salon life in Jan 2018, D. Malone opened The Spot Life Nail Spa located in Suite Nectar Salons in Matthews NC. Nicely designed she feels her spa is where luxury meets relaxation. Addison Duane is a research-loving elementary school teacher living and working in the historically marginalized neighborhood of Oak Park, Sacramento. She has taught all K-6 grades (except 1st!) and served a school site as an instructional coach and new teacher mentor. The entirety of her educational experience has been with trauma affected students. This fall, she will embark on a new learning journey as the first educator in the nation to pursue a PhD in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in trauma responsive practices at Wayne State University. In her free time, she enjoys reading, drinking tea and shopping for more striped clothing.

For over twenty years she’s staffed grief workshops that grew out of Kubler-Ross’ work.
