One of the most powerful themes that exist throughout the Bible is the idea of God’s lovingkindness. God’s love cannot be separated from His covenantal faithfulness to us. Being a Christian is not so much about believing IN God as it is believing God. Believing that He is who He says He is. Believing that He will do what He says He will do. Taking Him at His Word and acting accordingly. That is how we love God – we obey Him.

In Romans 5:8, the Apostle Paul uses strong words to describe those whom God loves & for whom Christ died. Three of the words express the deficiencies of human beings; we are “without strength, “ungodly” and “sinners.” Despite our sinful nature, God demonstrates His love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. This passage gives us an understanding of God’s Agape (unconditional love).

Jesus assures His followers that His Father will continue His work through them after His departure. Their works will glorify the Father & yield a continuous harvest. It was critical for all the disciples & for us to pray in the name of Jesus & give glory to the Father. Can you be trusted to do the work of Jesus in a spirit of love?

In this text, the leper who wants to be healed doesn’t turn to one of the disciples. He doesn’t turn to another leper. He doesn’t even turn to the priest. He knows that none of them can help him. He turns to Jesus. He says “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Is it time for you to turn to Jesus for healing?

Jesus informs the disciples that they will be His witnesses after His departure. Their intimate companionship with Him “from the beginning” is the foundation of their witness. Jesus introduces the Disciples to the Holy Spirit & assures them that they will receive divine guidance from the Spirit of Truth which is aligned with the Will of God.

In this life, we will be called by many names & we must ask ourselves how we want to be defined. Jesus took the time to clearly explain to the Disciples what it means to be in a relationship with Him. He also describes the behavior, which reflects a True Friend & Disciple in the Kingdom of God. Jesus commands love & obedience from everyone who calls Him Friend.

Habakkuk questions the theology of Justice when the wicked are not punished & the righteous are not rewarded. God responds & assures the prophet that His promises are absolutely reliable & the righteous must live by Faith with steadfast obedience.
