We got the chance to sit down with singer/songwriter and actress Emily Summers. Emily started writing music when she was just 12 years old. While she says her earlier songs are not ones she would play for a crowd today, she kept learning and kept writing and even went to Belmont University to get a bachelor’s degree in songwriting. It definitely paid off, as her songs have a way of drawing you in with her voice shining in the most subtle of ways. She has performed in musical theatre for over a decade, landing her first lead role as Elizabeth Vaughan in the musical If/Then, and then went on to play Janet Weiss in the musical version of Rocky Horror Picture Show. If you have heard her voice on stage then you know she has a special gift, and we were lucky enough to get a live performance of her single “Road to Livingston” from her EP titled “Evening”, which you can hear on our upcoming Episode this Tuesday. You can find her music on Apple Music and on Spotify, or by visiting her socials at Emily Summers Music on Facebook and @emilysummersmusic on Instagram.
