YCBG: Your  Corporate Black Girl was an idea that stemmed from many Black women's  experience transitioning into the corporate world. It is difficult not  seeing enough Black women. We exist, bringing diversity and our Black  Girl Magic, but we are not recognized as much.  It's like we're  invisible sheroes making it happen. This platform was created to embrace  Black women in professional spaces and to allow other Black women to  share their professional experiences in a raw and authentic way.

Raised in Silver Spring, Howard County, and Ghana, Afua is a 23 (almost 24!) year old recent business owner of Pleasant Pops -- a coffee-popsicle shop in Adams Morgan, DC. A recent graduate of UMD and proud attendee of Howard Community College, Afua is a skilled communications professional with a background in familial anthropology based in public health. Growing up with an active imagination wrapped in indecisiveness and consistent comparisons to others accomplishments, Afua has always battled with her career path -- until now. Afua’s path is one of the butterfly effect and she acclaims her biggest accolade is trusting her gut when it rang to be listened to. Afua lives in Columbia, Maryland and is also working as an Account Executive at a public relations advocacy firm in Baltimore, Maryland. When she’s not on the road between DC and Baltimore, you can find her spending time with her family, hesitantly planning her next solo trip or enjoying the little wonders and adventures that the DMV has to offer.

Kayla Nedza is a certified International Health Coach and Holistic Nutritionist who is dedicated to helping high performing women create lasting calm with food, movement, and lifestyle through her company, Women Creating Calm. She hosts the Wellness Glow Up Podcast, a weekly show devoted to helping women of color become their healthiest selves by providing the tools and knowledge to be their own health advocates. When she’s not researching, coaching, and interviewing health professionals, you’ll find her weight lifting, twerking around her kitchen, or watching Grey’s Anatomy.

The Wellness Ride rider Richie Crowley begins his cross-country bike journey in Boston on July 20th and arrives in LA on October 12th. He partnered with @Veestro to deliver over 2100 plant-based meals for the hungry. Follow his journey on instagram @rickieticklez! The Wellness Ride, which is an 85 Day Athletic Art Installation designed raise meals for the hungry and educate on the accessibility of  wellness, encouraging individuals to invest in their own wellness.

Hey There! Just some brief updates!

Gabi co-founded the Women of Color Book Club DC with her friends Madhvi and Ameesha in July 2017 with the intention to gather like-minded women in the DC area and support women of color authors. With over 20 women of color members, the book club meets once a month to discuss books written by women of color authors. Gabi hopes to grow the book club and regularly facilitate conversations with women of color authors, and ultimately impact the publishing industry and literary canon.

Kirk Morris was born and raised in Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland in 2017 with a degree in Marketing. Kirk is an Account Manager at Facebook in Austin, Texas. Since graduating college and starting his career at Facebook, Kirk has been focused on strengthening key skills for his career, building community, and learning more about himself and the environment around him. Kirk joins me shortly after his most recent adventure from around the world in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
